History of Breakdancing:

Breakdancing was founded by the black community and Puerto Rican kids in the 1970s. And it really became popular after James brown’s single “Get On The Good Foot” where his busted out his high energy footwork dancing. After that, the kids in New york started to copy his moves and eventually it evolved to be called b-boy or break dancing. At that time most of the style was ground footwork combinations without any of the fancy stuff you see today like windmills or back spins that are popular today. There were also breakdancing battles between gangs or clicks.

Another dance called “uprock” influenced the b-boy dancers. In this dance style, the dancers mimic fighting moves into rhythmic dance moves that opponents would use to ‘battle’ against one another.

The music is not restricted to Hip Hop anymore. These days dancers choose Techno, Jazz, electronic, pop and an other types of music that suites their style.

History of origin

The history of break dancing began in the late 60s in New York, in one of the poorest areas - the Bronx. At this time, electronic music was gaining popularity among young dancers who used the elements of rotation on the ground and called this direction Good Foot.

The name B-boys and B-boying appeared thanks to the DJ Kool Herc, B-boys is an abbreviated name for Break boys - broken beat dancers.

In 2011, the World Break Dance Championship arrived in Moscow, encouraging the development of dancers with master classes.

MOVEMENTS BREAK DANCE FOR CHILDREN

Registration. Dexterous movements, clear rhythm, dynamics and drive - breakdance captivates with incredible emotionality and energy. Surely, many at school had boys who skillfully controlled the body to rhythmic music, performing all kinds of tricks and breaking the applause of enthusiastic classmates. Breakdancing is almost 50 years old.

BREAK DANCE MOVEMENTS FOR CHILDREN

But only recently the professional study of dance has become available to everyone: children, teenagers and adults, and of any gender and level of preparedness. A children's school of break-dance "Flytronics" has opened in Kemerovo. Its leader and an experienced dancer of this direction, Pavel Lebedev, told why breakdancing is good, why it is able to make a hardy and purposeful person out of a child, and also gave five arguments in favor of a “street” dance. Breakdance is for all ages.

Pavel Lebedev's breakdancing school is attended by children from the age of five or six. Completely different children come: boys and girls, experienced dancers and completely out of control of their bodies, capable guys and those who don’t even know how to tie their shoelaces and don’t know where is left and where is right. Pavel laughs: “We teach in class how to tie shoelaces, where to go.” The upper age threshold is not limited: both high school students and students come to classes.

Everything depends on the desire of the future dancer. Breakdance gives physical development. Breakdance has both acrobatics and elements of gymnastics.

But most of all native elements, such as "Headspin" (rotation on the head), "Helicopter" (rotation around its axis, being horizontal relative to the floor). There are a huge number of elements. This dance uses all the space around the dancer and always a little more. “You dance on your hands, on your feet, on your head, spinning 360 degrees. And all this must be done musically. If you want to succeed in break dancing, you have to literally live this dance.

It requires constant self-improvement and development. You can't stop here. It is impossible to learn how to breakdance and go on living peacefully, thinking that you can do everything and that there is nothing else to do. As soon as you stop, you take a few steps back, ”says Pavel Lebedev, coach and head of the children's breakdance studio.

Breakdancing is difficult. There are tricks that are very difficult. For example, in breakdancing there is an element: rotation on one hand. The world record is 28 revolutions in this position. Pavel admitted: he has been doing breakdancing for 15 years, and so far he manages to make a maximum of 12 turns.

There is always something to strive for in breakdancing. Breakdance class begins with a warm-up. “First we warm up and do it with dance moves. At the same time, elements are being worked out: we are polishing simple tricks. Then gradually, after warming up, the main part of the workout begins. First we master simple movements, then everything is more difficult, ”says Pavel.

Many guys continue to practice at home, as breakdancing is 99% of the practice, so the more time devoted to training and practicing, the better for the overall level of the practitioner. Over time, breakdancing becomes so habitual that a person cannot help but train. “There are many elements and movements in breakdancing that involve all the available muscle groups. They also develop those muscle groups that do not yet exist, which cannot be pumped with a single barbell. More precisely, a person does not know about the existence of these muscles, but one or another element requires them. Simply put, by learning to breakdance, we automatically get fit and prepared through the manipulation of our own body. And in order to save the results of training, you just need to dance, ”says Pavel.

Breakdance develops creatively. Breakdance develops a whole range of qualities at once: endurance, flexibility, strength, sense of rhythm and balance, dexterity, musicality, imagination. This dance develops not only physically, but also creatively, and this is its fat plus. In addition to learning the basic movements and elements of breakdance, you need to learn how to compose your dance from the mastered material. When you have practiced moves that are nice to look at and skillfully done to the music, it's time to get creative and create your own personal breakdance.

Not everyone can withstand complex and multifaceted long-term training. And this is absolutely normal. Some quit and come back after a few years and continue to practice until now.

Someone thinks that he has no talent, but it's all about desire, patience and, of course, action. Break dance teaches you to improvise and not be afraid of the stage, to express yourself through dance. Dance is creativity.

And breakdance is creativity in a cube. There is no strict framework and a clear plan of performance. If a break dancer has forgotten a trick or failed a difficult element, he is able to make it so that many will not even notice it.

Improvisation, a smile on the face, wild energy and emotions of the dancer - and now, right on the stage, a new trick is born, not inferior in complexity to the one worked out long ago. Breakdance teaches you to express your thoughts through movements in your own way, and this is its charm. In fact, everyone performs the same elements, but everyone dances breakdancing in their own way. Adds own emotions, corrects movements, complicates them. In breakdance, you can improvise, but in order to do it well, according to the coaches, you need to practice a lot and diligently.

Pavel says: after break-dancing, many guys literally open up. Some come notorious and terribly afraid of the stage, crying, panicking. But after the first performance, the boys and girls open up.

They begin to get high from the process, they realize that the scene is not as scary as it seems, and the audience is delighted with their skills. Children are unrealistically charged by this, they are ready to move mountains and achieve stunning success in the dance field. Breakdance brings up perseverance and purposefulness.

Pavel warns: breakdancing should not be perceived as a "compulsory", it is useless to practice it through force, without desire. Children must truly love dance in order to succeed in this direction. "No other way. There are very heavy elements in breakdance, you need endurance to master them.

Therefore, if the child does not like the process itself, there is no passion and desire to learn complex tricks, it is useless to teach. This is not the direction in which you can reach heights without a special love for classes, ”says coach Pavel. Breakdancing needs to be understood. It differs from sports and all kinds of creative areas. There is both the first and the second.

It is important to turn on your head, remember not only what you are shown, but also what you are told. Understanding some elements comes with age. Therefore, it is necessary to work hard and hard, but to do it through the desire and love for dance with full dedication.

There is a sea of break-dance competitions: from the city level to the world level. Therefore, the most talented and persistent have a real chance to succeed in this field and conquer more and more peaks. School of break-dance "Flytronics" street 50 years of October, 11, building 2, office 300 Lenina ave. 59a (Promenade 3), 3rd floor.
