Actor Vijay has garnered thousands of fans, irrespective of age and gender, thanks to his dancing skills. In fact, before people noticed his acting capabilities, it was his dancing style that grabbed the attention of people. He has made some quirky moves fancy, and he has also matched steps with choreographers such as Prabhu Deva and Raghava Lawrence. In fact, Prabhu Deva had Vijay dance with Akshay Kumar for one of the songs in Rowdy Rathore.
He is known to take to any style of dancing easily and watching him onscreen, even the more complicated sequences looks effortless. On his 44th birthday, here are 10 dance moves that the actor made famous in his career.
This movie was one of the first breaks that Vijay got as an actor. In this romantic drama, which also starred Shalini, his simple hook step in one of the songs, soon became his signature step. Today, there are memes around this particular step and anyone who mimics the actor surely imitates this one step.
Be it the fun song Macarina Macarina with Shilpa Shetty or Kattipudi Kattipudi with Mumtaz in this film, Vijay’s dancing was wonderful. Kids would especially love the former for its peppy beat.
Vijay and Simran and worked together in a number of films. However, in Youth, she performed just this one song that is considered iconic even today.
Much before Why This Kolaveri Di conquered all of India, one song had gone far and wide across the country and that was Appadi Podu. People without any knowledge of Tamil, would nonetheless know these two words, thanks to the reach of this song featuring Vijay and Trisha.
Nee Illa Naan Illa is the song where Vijay matches steps with Raghava Lawrence, one of the most impressive dance choreographers in the country. The two of them had audiences swaying to their moves for a long time.
Azhagiya Tamizh Magan
The title song of the film featured some really crazy footwork by Vijay. Earlier, audiences knew that he was a great dancer, but with this song, he also proved that any style could be adapted if done with passion.
Directed by Prabhu Deva, this movie had some really nice songs. One memorable song happens to be Aadungada Enna Suthi, which was choreographed by Prabhu Deva. The two of them also did the hook step, truly a whistle-worthy performance.
In Rowdy Rathore, Vijay is seen for a mere second but he shares screen space with Akshay Kumar and Prabhu Deva in the song Chinta Ta Chita Chita.
The song called Jingunamani is one of the biggest hits among the many songs picturised on Vijay. The number had Vijay dancing with three other women and it is still played at every local party.
In Kaththi, Vijay is shown to fall in love with a girl, pretty much a case of love at the first sight and is unable to hold his joy. As is the case in our films, he bursts into a song. Composed by Anirudh and sung by Hip Hop Adhi, it has some crazy dancing by Vijay.

Turning dance into animation: encoding and decoding in a choreographic studio | Other
You see the experiments of Rodrigo Carvalho - an unusual fusion of choreography and generative graphics.
To create new dance techniques, it is not enough to combine the efforts of engineers and dancers. From Merce Cunningham, who pioneered the use of the LifeForms computer program in his choreography, to digital dance hybrids such as Troika Ranch (Dawn Stoppiello/Dawn Stoppiello/ Mark Coniglio).
The Motion Bank project can become the next step in the development of dance technologies. Choreographer William Forsythe launched a four-year project in Frankfurt to create a choreographic database using Kinect. This tool was not chosen by chance: Kinect is a great technology for the final transformation of digital movements into dance. Regular cameras are too clumsy to collect any meaningful data, and high-end tracking cameras are not only expensive, but also too crude and not flexible enough. Kinect is a tool that you can put in a rehearsal room and start using right away.
The Motion Bank project was created in collaboration with research institutes and choreographers such as Deborah Hay, Jonathan Barrows / Matteo Fargion, Bebe Miller and Thomas Howert. Motion Bank is an open project. The developed datasets are the movements of the dancers, converted into digital form, which allows you to reuse these movements, impose them on the artists, create digital sculptures "out of thin air".
The video below provides a more detailed description of the Motion Bank project:
The following video shows Deborah Hay's production of "No Time to Fly", which is a stream of wires twisting in space.
And this is another beautiful image from Deborah Hay's visualization.
But let's talk about how exactly it happens when artists are invited to participate in such a project.
In November 2013, the Z Centrum in Frankfurt hosted a choreographic lab, one of the latest events in the Motion Bank project dedicated to choreographic coding.
Among the project coordinators were Zach Lieberman, a VJ from New York, founder of OpenFrameworks. Germany also did not stand aside: Cedrik Kiefer and Christian Loclair from the Berlin studio Onformative took part in the project; NODE Forum and other organizations.
It's good when a project has talented coordinators, but it's much more interesting to look at the potential opportunities of the project through the eyes of the participants. Last month, Rodrigo Carvalho from Porto shared with the public his experience of participating in this project:
Long live Open Source! Rodrigo shared not only the data obtained, but also the tools used. Here you will find Florian Jenette's Processing library for data parsing. Here you can download the library that was used to create a system of particles and clouds from dots swarming around the dancer like bees. You will find the achievements of Rodrigo himself at the link a little behind)).
And below are a few more pictures from this project:
Perhaps the vagueness of the goals makes the project even more beautiful. These works can be considered digital as the dancer's movements are coded, but these codes can be converted into something completely different from the original. They allow you to look at the dance from the other side. But the most difficult thing in this process is to teach the machines to see the movements that the dancer makes. The most interesting thing happens at this stage.

Childhood and youthLaurita Ibadulakhovna Ashueva was born on September 17, 1993 in Baksan, in Kabardino-Balkaria. From an early age, the girl was an active and creative child - in kindergarten she participated with pleasure in all musical performances and fairy tales. Neither parents nor teachers had any doubts that Laurita would become an artist. When Laurita was 6 years old, she took part in the Golden Voices competition in Baksan. The brilliant performance of Vitas's song "Opera No. 2" allowed the young star to get first place. Later, Laurita was sent to a music school at the Palace of Culture in Nalchik, where she was lucky enough to study with the master Marlen Gennadyevich Bzhinava, who at one time released many talented musicians, including the famous singer Dima Bilan.
CareerFrom adolescence, Laurita regularly participated in local and federal vocal competitions. In 2009, she performed at the Patriotic Song Contest and the Young Voices of the 21st Century competition in St. Petersburg, and in 2010 at the Kabardino-Balkarian Morning Star.
Laurita is the real name of the singerRecognition came to Ashuyeva after her successful participation in the project of the RU TV Makhachkala channel "12 Stars" with the song "Qele Qele", a cover of the composition of the Armenian singer Sirusho. The first two songs of the beginning star, "Dance of Passion" and "Don't Say", quickly became hits in the North Caucasus, and the composition "Daisies", released a year later, allowed listeners to get acquainted with the romantic and tender side of Laurita. After the singer tried herself in the r'n'b genre and included songs in English in her repertoire.
Laurita - "Daisies"The first clip of Laurita "New Generation" (2011) gained popularity outside the North Caucasus. The video, which was worked on by the famous clip maker Iosif Gasanov, is still shown on the air of Russian and Ukrainian music TV channels.

The third season was much more successful for the Dagestan singer - she got into the group of participants "From 16 to 25 years" under the leadership of Emelyanov. Emelyanov's wards also included Roman Bekhmetiev, Yaroslav Dronov and Yulia Samoilova. According to the results of the audience voting, the winner of the season, which started in February 2013, was the ward of Nikolaev - the singer Mali, while Laurita took 6th place.
