“Dancing with the Stars” is back for 31st season — with a twist. The long-running series moved to Disney+ from ABC for Season 31. Here’s everything to know about the current installment and what you can expect.
Is “Dancing with the Stars” returning for Season 31?
Yes, and also Season 32. The show was renewed for a 31st and 32nd season on April 8, so you won’t have to wonder about its status once Season 31 wraps up.
Where is “Dancing with the Stars” airing?
After 16 years and 30 seasons on ABC, “Dancing” moved exclusively to Disney+ starting with Season 31. The news was announced in conjunction with the show’s two-season renewal. “Dancing” is the first live series to stream on Disney+. It premiered on Monday, Sept. 19. The finale will air on Monday, Nov. 22.

Who is in the “Dancing with the Stars” Season 31 cast?
Here are the celebrity-pro pairings:
– Fitness model and actor Joseph Baena with partner Daniella Karagach
– Movie star Selma Blair with partner Sasha Farber
– Comedian, actor and singer Wayne Brady with partner Witney Carson
– “Good Morning America” contributor and WABC-TV New York’s weather anchor Sam Champion with partner Cheryl Burke
– TikTok star Charli D’Amelio with partner Mark Ballas
– Heidi D’Amelio (“The D’Amelio Show”) with partner Artem Chigvintsev
– Country star Jessie James Decker with partner Alan Bersten
– TV star Trevor Donovan with partner Emma Slater
– Daniel Durant (“CODA”) with partner Britt Stewart
– Teresa Giudice (“The Real Housewives of New Jersey”) with partner Pasha Pashkov
– Vinny Guadagnino (“Jersey Shore”) with partner Koko Iwasaki
– “Charlie’s Angels” star Cheryl Ladd with partner Louis Van Amstel
– Jason Lewis (“Sex and the City”) with partner Peta Murgatroyd
– Drag queen superstar Shangela with partner Gleb Savchenko
– Platinum recording artist Jordin Sparks with partner Brandon Armstrong
– Gabby Windey (“The Bachelorette”) with partner Val Chmerkovskiy
Two-time champ Ballas and Van Amstel are back for the first time since Seasons 25 and 21, respectively. Murgatroyd also returned after sitting out last season, while Iwasaki, a “So You Think You Can Dance” alum and “DWTS” tour performer, is a new pro.
Former champs Sharna Burgess, Lindsay Arnold and Jenna Johnson are not participating due to family priorities. Burgess, who had her first child, Zane, with boyfriend and Season 30 partner Brian Austin Green on June 28, said in a series of Instagram Stories on Aug. 31 that while she’s ready to dance, she was “not ready to spend a minimum of 10 hours a day away from Zane.” Arnold, who has a nearly 2-year-old daughter and lives in Utah, announced on the same day on Instagram that she will also sit out the season. “This has been one of the hardest decisions to make but ultimately I have chosen what I feel is best for myself and my family,” she wrote. “Logistically there is SO much involved with making this happen and there is a lot of sacrifice that has to be made that unfortunately just did not feel right for us this time around. ” Johnson is expecting her first child with hubby Chmerkovskiy in January.
Is Tyra Banks hosting Season 31?
Yes, and she has a co-host this time: Season 19 champ Alfonso Ribeiro (the two go way back to “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”). Banks’ performance has been polarizing — former host Brooke Burke thinks the supermodel is ill-fitted for the show — so the addition of a beloved former winner with hosting bona fides (Ribeiro replaced Tom Bergeron on “America’s Funniest Home Videos” in 2015) is not surprising.
SEE Confused by ‘Dancing with the Stars” judges’ vote? The ‘tiebreaker’ rule, explained
Are all four judges back for Season 31?
Yes, Len Goodman, Derek Hough, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba all returned, marking the second season with this combo behind the judges’ table. After missing Season 29 due to COVID-19 travel restrictions and being replaced by Hough, Goodman returned in Season 30 to make it a four-person panel, which wreaked havoc on the judges’ vote and forced the introduction of a tiebreaker rule that the show and Banks kept failing to properly explain. During the Season 31 semifinal, Goodman announced that this will be his final season.
What changes will there be in Season 31?
There is a new executive producer, who’s actually an old face: Conrad Green, the original executive producer and showrunner who left after Season 18, returned. He replaced Andrew Llinares, the executive producer since the “Athletes” season in 2018, who departed “Dancing” in March. Llinares is most famous (infamous?) for the controversial decision to fire co-hosts Bergeron and Erin Andrews for Banks in 2020 in an attempt to freshen up the show. Bergeron reacted to Llinares’ exit appropriately and calls Green’s impending return the “best decision they’ve made since 2005, when they hired him the first time.”
What themes will there be in Season 31?
Season 31 has featured Premiere Night Party, Elvis Night, Bond Night and Disney+ Night, a twist on the usual Disney Night. Week 5 was a two-night with two themes: the requisite Most Memorable Year Night and Prom Night. The Oct. 24 episode was Michael Bublé Night, during which Hough performed with his fiancée Hayley Erbert to the singer’s tune “Higher,” the music video for which Hough directed. Bublé also served as a guest judge that episode. After a three-year absence due to COVID-19, team dances returned on Halloween Night, which actually fell on Halloween this year. The ’90s Night-themed Nov. 7 episode and the theme-less semifinal had double eliminations. The finale will feature another Hough-Erbert performance and Selma Blair will also make her return to the dance floor after dropping out in Week 5 due to concerns over her MS.
How does voting work?
Fans in the U.S. and Canada can vote during the broadcast via disneyplus.com/vote and U.S. fans can also vote via text. The live votes will be combined with the judges’ scores every week to determine the bottom two, after which the judges will save one couple.

Sports fans rejoice as one of the most competitive seasons of "Dancing with the Stars" ever fires up the scoreboard and welcomes 10 determined athletes who will take to the ballroom floor for their first dance, on the season premiere of "Dancing with the Stars: Athletes," Credits: ABC/Kelsey McNeal
Season 26 of Dancing with the Stars is a special one featuring 10 famous athletes paired off with expert dancers. However, it will wrap up in just four weeks as it has a new format. So, what’s the great hurry?
Fans of the long-running American dance competition TV show, Dancing with the Stars (DWTS), were delighted when the show returned to ABC on Monday, April 30, 2018. And many who were thinking that season 26 would be more of the same were pleasantly surprised!
This season of DWTS is a special edition called Dancing with the Stars: Athletes. It will feature professional athletes in a condensed format.
People are always eager to know the Dancing with the Stars cast as it is always full of surprises.
This season, there are 10 teams in the fray as follows:
1. Josh Norman and Sharna Burgess
2. Tonya Harding and Sasha Farber
3. Jennie Finch and Keo Motsepe
4. Chris Mazdzer and Witney Carson [Eliminated]
5. Mirai Nagasu and Alan Bersten
6. Arike Ogunbowale and Gleb Savchenko
7. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Lindsay Arnold
8. Adam Rippon and Jenna Johnson
9. Johnny Damon and Emma Slater [Eliminated]

There you have it, folks! Those are the 10 athletes who are paired off with their expert dancers.
The experts will be teaching the athletes to shake plenty of leg in the coming weeks on DWTS season 26 and will work hard to win the elusive Mirrorball Trophy!
Unlike before, DWTS season 26 will wrap up in just four weeks as the show has a new format. ABC announced the new season as a “special four-week-all-athlete edition” but speculations are that this is due to ABC focusing more on the return of American Idol. Fans will have to make some difficult and hard decisions, as each week, two couples are likely to go home.
This will make the show more competitive. And since all the contestants are athletes, they are used to performing under pressure and stress.
As Gleb Savchenko rightly put it some days ago, “What I think is going to happen, we’re going to have two dances a week. We have three weeks of rehearsals, four weeks of the show, and each week, we have two couple go home. So it’ll be really intense. It’s gonna fly!”
So, don’t miss a single episode of DWTS season 26 as it will wrap up in just four weeks. And considering the caliber of contestants on Dancing with the Stars: Athletes 2018, it is sure to be an exciting, thrilling, and memorable season.
Dancing with the Stars season 26 airs on Mondays at 8:00 p.m. EST and PST on ABC.
participants are preparing for the first time on the floor

The artists, waiting for the first release of the new season of the show "Dancing with the Stars", do not waste time in vain. Now it's hard to believe, but a couple of weeks ago, many of them were just taking their first steps in their lives on the floor. Now they devote all their free time to rehearsals and training.
This Sunday on the channel "Russia 1" starts a new season of the popular show "Dancing with the Stars"! Winners will be chosen by popular vote. In addition, the audience is waiting for a completely new jury. Oleg Pakshin visited the dress rehearsal.
The stars dance so easily that it's hard to believe - only two weeks ago they still couldn't do much! There are no holidays or weekends for them. Preparing for the new season of the show takes all the free time of the artists, and "Day X" - the first exit to the big floor - is already on January 16, despite the injuries.
"I apparently gave such an active load to the body, which had been detrained for some time, that the organizers were madly scared. But, thank God, I'm ready to fight again!" Maria Mironova says
Injured her back, but did not break in spirit. The actress and young mother is now rehearsing with extreme caution. In the meantime, some couples are learning the first premiere dance, others have already tried all five of the Latin American program. Dmitry Kharatyan danced a lot both at the theater institute and in the cinema. But never in front of an authoritative jury and millions of viewers live.
"Here, I used to play table tennis, but now I'm big - if you look for analogies with sports," the artist explains.
Vanya Dmitrienko's singing is better than dancing. Physical activity at rehearsals is difficult even for his young body, and Vanya is only 16, and he is the youngest participant in the history of Dancing with the Stars.
"Yes, my feet are in shock. So far. And it's hard for me to get used to these shoes, in which you have to dance. But, in principle, everything is fine," the musician assures.
Perhaps the only one who is 100% sure of his dancing skills is Vladimir Marconi. The popular showman is now a participant in the TV project himself. Especially for the sake of "Dances" I threw off a few kilograms. With whom and what will dance in the premiere release, he keeps it in the strictest confidence.
"My family crest says: 'Win or don't go home!' So, I expect to go home!" Marconi says.
In the new season of "Dancing with the Stars" there will be something to see and someone to cheer for. The premiere release is already this Sunday at 17:50, only on the Russia 1 TV channel.

On Sunday, August 26, a new season of the popular show "Dancing with the Stars" started on the 1 + 1 TV channel. This time fourteen couples compete at once. The company of the stars, as usual, it was made up of professional dancers. The composition of the jury will remain the same: Vlad Yama, Dmitry Monatik, Ekaterina Kukhar.Presenters - Tina Karol and Yuri Gorbunov.
Among the participants were both those who are engaged in dancing by the nature of their activities, for example, singer Zlata Ognevich, Slava Kaminskaya, Michel Andrade, and celebrities who are far from dancing - boxer Denis Berinchik, TV presenter Ruslan Senichkin.
The new season will last three months - the show will end on November 25th. "Strana" collected information about the participants, as well as how the first edition went.
Who dropped out after the first edition
The peculiarity of the first edition was that the couples received jury marks, but none of them dropped out. The elimination dances will start from the second issue, then the audience will be able to influence the fate of the participants by SMS voting.
However, after the 1st episode of "Dancing with the Stars" a favorite emerged. Most of the jury's votes unexpectedly received a couple of Ruslan Senichkin and Yana Tsibulskaya. The TV presenter, who is called "panda" and "bear cub" on the show, earned 24 points for a hip-hop number.
In second place is the star of the series "Opera on call" Belarusian "Pavel Vishnyakov". Together with his partner Yulia Sakhnevich, he showed a sensual black and white tango. The result is 22 points from the jury.
Third place and 21 points were given to four couples at once: Michel Andrade and Zhenya Kot, Masha Efrosinina and Maxim Leonov, Igor Lastochkin and Ilona Gvozdeva, Irakli Makatsaria and Yana Zayats.
The last place was taken by restaurateur Nikolay Tishchenko and ex-member of Nikita group Nana with 13 points. The jury considered the businessman too clumsy, although they noted that he was in excellent physical shape.
Despite the fact that 14 pairs were declared, only 13 came out on the floor. Due to an injury received during training, the participant of the "NeAngely" project Slava Kaminskaya, who was paired with the former partner of Natalia Mogilevskaya and the winner of the last season Igor Kuzmenko, could not take part in the first issue. According to the rules, if a couple misses two issues in a row, they are out. Whether the audience will see Slava Kaminskaya and Igor Kuzmenko next Sunday is still unknown.
"Dancing with the Stars" season 5, first broadcast online The host of "Eagle and Tails" and the show "Who is the beast?", Known for her humor, is trying her hand at a dance project this TV season. Her first performance cannot be called particularly successful, but she graced the show with her signature jokes.
Oksana Marchenko . Before the start of the show, the TV presenter published photos from training. “Because of the active preparation for Dancing with the Stars, I needed to take a break from sports all last week,” she shared on Instagram.
After information about the participation of Oksana Marchenko on the "pros", a scandal erupted. Journalists from the Television News Service protested against her participation. The main claim was that she was the wife of the politician Viktor Medvedchuk. The general director of 1+1 Media, Alexander Tkachenko, replied that journalists have the right to express an opinion on the channel's policy, but viewers want to see Oksana Marchenko.
The jury rated her waltz at a rather high 19 points, noting that the top of the leader was flawless, but the feet did not work enough. Oksana Marchenko herself said that she was taking part in the show for the first time, although she had been on stage as a host for many years and that this was a challenge for her and a way to overcome her complexes.
Masha Efrosinina. TV presenter and promoter of a healthy lifestyle is already showing signs of bruising after workouts on social networks. "The most interesting thing is to condemn anyone. I gave myself up. I love to dance!" she wrote.
She also stated that she had a negative attitude towards the participation of Oksana Marchenko, since "the wife is responsible for the actions of her husband, who undermines the political situation." At the same time, Efrosinina noted that she did not personally know her future rival on the project.
Pavlo Zibrov . The 61-year-old singer, who also goes by the name DJ Zibrembo, was the oldest contestant this season. He posted photos from training on his Instagram. On them, Pavlo Zibrov demonstrates stretching and shares the secret of a good form: oatmeal, push-ups and dance steps.
Pavlo Zibrov also published a video for the "Teacher" project, in which he shows his dancing abilities.

Publication from Pavlo Zibrov (@pavlo_zibrov)
In the first episode, Pavel Zibrov performed a waltz, as did Oksana Marchenko's couple.
Denis Berinchyk . The London Olympics silver medalist said his goal is to at least reach the final. Before the start of the show, he said that he had been training for a month and a half and it was not easy, but he would not look like Dmitry Komarov last season, because he had coordination and self-confidence. He mentioned that he now has a minor injury, so the next fight will not take place until December.
Anita Lutsenko . Athlete, weight loss expert Anita Lutsenko, known for the project "Zvazhenі i schaslivі" debuted not very well, but not losing - 18 points. At the same time, a lot of her fans believe that the jury unfairly underestimated the marks and the dance was very gentle and sensual. The main complaint of the judges was that the dance lacked emotion, although technically it was at a high level.
Slava Kaminskaya . Another participant in the show is the soloist of the NeAngely group and the wife of the famous plastic surgeon Edgar Kaminsky. A few days before the start of the show, she suddenly fell during one of Igor Kuzmenko's lifts and got injured. On Instagram, she wrote that it even hurts to stand. At the same time, she does not lose hope of going to the floor on the second air, otherwise she will leave the show forever.
By the way, Igor Kuzmenko recently had a daughter. The dancer lives in Odessa and comes to Kyiv during the filming of the project. His wife, like him, is a choreographer. The newborn girl was named Miroslava.
Nikolay Tishchenko. Restaurateur Nikolai Tishchenko responded to the dance challenge. He has been working with television for a long time: he was one of the trainers at Master Chef, as well as the host of the Inspector General project. Tishchenko positions himself as the alpha male of the show. He showed a bright number with his partner, but the dance of the restaurateur himself was not enough there.
Zlata Ognevich. The singer represented Ukraine at Eurovision 2013 in Sweden. In the last season of Dancing with the Stars, Ognevich was the backstage host. Before the start of the show, she stated that this is a real challenge for her, and also that dance is not about movement, it's about emotions. But the judges counted. that it was precisely the emotions that Ognevich's number lacked.
Igor Lastochkin . This season, the popular kvnschik and the host of the "Make the Comedian Laugh" program entered the dance floor. He moved with his family to Kyiv from the Dnepropetrovsk region. In an interview, he does not hide the fact that it is difficult for him to live in Kyiv because of the environmental situation, the fuss. In the first edition, he received positive reviews from the judges.
Irakli Makatsaria. TV viewers remember him as the protagonist of the "Bachelor" project. A businessman and film producer in his homeland, Georgia, has already become a finalist in a similar dance project.
Michel Andrade .
