I love just dance and have gotten previous games in the past. Out of all of them, 2019 and 2017 are top tier. This game is great to play with friends. Although, I believe this game is way better if you have unlimited which is not expensive to get.

Beginner Tips Every Just Dance 2022 Player Needs

The game that promises to keep everyone dancing makes a return once again with Just Dance 2022, the latest installment of the ever-popular dance rhythm video game series by Ubisoft. The series continues to prove successful for the company, even besting some of its recent Triple-A titles.

A lot of that success can be attributed to the games' broad appeal and relatively low learning curve, meaning that just about anyone with a passing interest in music or dancing can give it a shot. Not much has changed since 2021, so veteran players should have no trouble navigating its menus and loading up any of the newly added songs. But for anyone planning to try out the game for the first time, or after a long break from the series, here are a few things worth keeping in mind.

RELATED: The Best Just Dance Games Of All Time

Updated January 20, 2022, by Michael Abayomi: Just Dance 2022 continues to provide entertainment and exercise for fans young and old. We've updated this list to include two additional entries that should help both new and returning players get a hang of those trickier dance routines even faster.

7/7 Available Platforms

One of the first things anyone looking to get into Just Dance 2022 should know is on what platforms the game is available. Like most years, the latest installment of Just Dance is available to play on just about every modern console and gaming service. These include the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Google Stadia. Wii owners have been left out though as support for the Nintendo Wii was dropped with last year's release of Just Dance 2021.

Each platform offers its own unique advantages, like portability on the Nintendo Switch for example, and the ability to take the game with you anywhere you go. The game is still not available on PC for whatever reason though, unless you're willing to settle for Just Dance Now instead, their cloud-based subscription service that works with smartphones and an internet browser, and offers a vast library of past Just Dance hits for players to dance to.

6/7 The Song List

Players of Just Dance 2022 should definitely take the time to familiarize themselves with the list of songs that come with the game. After all, a new Just Dance game is just as good as the songs on its playlist. Thankfully, Just Dance 2022 comes packed with quite a few bangers. These include recent hits like Save Your Tears (Remix) by The Weeknd & Ariana Grande, and Levitating by Dua Lipa, to older classics like Buttons by The Pussycat Dolls and Rock Your Body by Justin Timberlake. There are 46 songs in total, including 5 regional exclusives.

RELATED: Just Dance 2022: The Best Songs

And for those players craving even more songs, they'll be pleased to find out that the game comes with a one-month free trial of Just Dance Unlimited (another one of their subscription services) that includes over 700 songs from past games and elsewhere. If you've happened to listen to pop radio or the Top 40 charts anytime within the past two decades, then chances are you should recognize quite a few of them. The best part is that the game offers a nice mix of songs and genres - from rock to pop and even South African house music - ensuring that all types of music lovers will find songs to immediately gravitate towards.

5/7 The Different Editions

Aside from being available across multiple platforms, Just Dance 2022 also has two different editions for players to choose from. There is the standard edition which costs $49.99 at launch and comes with 40+ songs, as well as the one-month free trial of Just Dance Unlimited mentioned above. Then there is the deluxe edition which retails for $59.99 at launch.

The main difference between both versions, aside from sporting slightly different cover art, is that the deluxe edition comes with four months of Just Dance Unlimited. That is the one-month free trial from the standard edition, as well as an additional three months subscription valued at $9. 99. There are additional renewal options for Just Dance Unlimited at $3.99 for one month and $24.99 for a full year. It is worth noting that an internet connection will be required to use the service, since the songs are streamed over the internet, as opposed to played from a disc or hard drive like the ones that come with the base game.

4/7 The Controller Options

Just Dance 2022 is a rhythm game and as such, the game is played primarily through motion controls. This means that PlayStation players would want to have a PlayStation Camera handy, while Nintendo Switch players will need to use their left or right joy-cons. Players on the former can take advantage of the peripheral's more accurate, full-body tracking.

RELATED: The Best Games That Use Motion Sensor Controls, Ranked

Xbox Series S and X players on the other hand might have to fish out their old Kinect sensor bars to join in on the fun, because not only does the game not offer support for traditional controllers, it also doesn't allow them to use any other type of camera. Thankfully, all versions can also be played with a compatible smartphone, using the Just Dance Controller app available on the Apple Store and Google Play Store. Though it is worth noting that Nintendo Switch users will still require a joy-con to get past the game's start screen, even if they intend to use their smartphones to play during the actual songs and dance routines.

3/7 The Different Modes

Just Dance 2022 has no shortage of game modes available for players to choose from, which can be quite daunting for newbies. The good news though is that it gives an option to dive right in with a randomized playlist in the Quickplay Mode. For anyone looking to explore the other available options, the game has quite a few.

There is the Co-op Mode, where up to six players can play together locally, using supported peripherals and smartphones. Then there is the World Dance Floor, where you can play with other players around the world in a tournament-styled competition. Sweat Mode is geared towards fitness buffs, and it lets you start your own routine and track the calories burnt along the way. And then there is the Kids Mode, which, as the name suggests, is geared towards children with family-friendly songs and simpler routines.

2/7 Song Difficulty

As was the case with previous entries in the series, Just Dance 2022 has a number of songs for players to choose from. But not all of those songs are created equally. Parents will be pleased to know that younger players have a kid-friendly playlist of songs with simplified dance routines that shouldn't cause them too much frustration.

But for everyone else, they might want to be mindful of their chosen song's difficulty, which can be seen on the song selection screen. There are alternative dance routines for some of the songs that turn them into full-blown workouts, so it is best to avoid them until you are ready to break a sweat. Those looking for an even greater challenge can also unlock an extreme mode on certain songs once they've racked up enough points, which can effectively turn a previously-mastered song into a gauntlet of skill and endurance.

1/7 Practice Makes Perfect

The key to mastery in Just Dance 2022 comes with taking the time to learn the various dance routines. The good news is that most of them have repeating movements that are generally easy to follow. But knowing when to expect them can be quite tricky the first time around.

This is where practice comes in, as you'll grow more familiar with the ebb and flow of each song and its routine the more times you go over them. There is no shortcut to putting in that practice, unfortunately, at least if you intend to stop flailing about awkwardly each time you miss another move which you should have seen coming a mile away. Acquiring the skills needed to dance to each song like one of the pros is relatively straightforward, you'll just need to put in the time and effort.

Wii U - a thorny path

Nintendo has built a reputation over the years as a risk-taker, skillful, and extremely lucky gamer. It is difficult, almost impossible, to predict in advance whether their product will be a success in the market.

Nintendo has gained a reputation as a risk-taker, skillful and extremely lucky gamer in recent years. It is difficult, almost impossible, to predict in advance whether their product will be a success in the market. Many laughed at the Wii, dubious modifications of the DS and put an end to the 3DS in advance. However, Nintendo masterfully got out of a losing situation, even if it meant sacrificing a lot. The DS took off when the DS Lite hit the shelves instead of the unfortunate "fatty". 3DS, the failure of which became clear a few weeks after the release, began to break sales records after a decisive price reduction - almost one and a half times. The phenomenon of the Wii's popularity was a revolutionary way to control that opened the way for new genres and entertainment. Despite the fact that the console was the most successful among the casual audience, Nintendo was able to become one of the most profitable companies in Japan due to it.

Nintendo has an amazing sense of how to respond to a crisis in order to secure a leading position in the market. However, in the case of the new game console Wii U, which appeared on the shelves of Russia on December 21, 2012 (in Europe - November 30, 2012), the company will have to tighten up like never before. An attempt to compete in the same weight class with the PS3 and Xbox 360 was unsuccessful.

In the following, when describing the Wii U, decisions will often be mentioned that can be mildly called “weird” or “illogical”. Therefore, anticipating a deliberately negative reaction, we note that the notorious "special way" of Nintendo is not always bad on closer examination. It's unusual, especially for those people who jump to the Wii U from a PS3 or Xbox 360. But this reluctance to go with the flow and simply copy the achievements of competitors is welcome. Even if in the end Nintendo did everything topsy-turvy.

Equipment

We will consider the complete set of the console based on the Wii U Premium Pack. In addition to it, the Wii U Basic Pack is on sale, which costs a little less, but offers much less bonuses.

The Wii U Premium Pack box contains:

  • Wii U Game Console (32 GB Internal Memory) Black
  • Black Wii U GamePad Controller
  • Battery Wii U GamePad
  • Stylus Wii U GamePad
  • Wii U Power Supply
  • Wii U GamePad Power Supply
  • HDMI cable
  • Wii U GamePad Charging Cradle
  • Stand Wii U GamePad
  • Wii U Console Stand
  • Sensor bar
  • Disc with game Nintendo Land
  • User manual

The Wii U Basic Pack includes a white console with 8 GB of internal memory. No Nintendo Land game, no Wii U stand and controller, no sensor bar.

The box is packed tightly. There is no free space at all. One section holds the Wii U and the Wii U GamePad, while the other holds the documentation, all stands, wires, and power supplies. The abundance of the latter immediately causes an unpleasant tension: you have to decide how to connect it all to the mains, hiding everything in appearance, except for the console and the gamepad. Moreover, the wires and power supplies are not black, but light gray. Stand out immediately.

So the first impression is shock. All these gray boxes and tangles of wires against the background of a miniature console look too cumbersome and out of place. It is not clear why the Wii U GamePad cannot be charged from USB, but it is necessary to occupy a separate outlet. And to occupy on a permanent basis, since the controller works only 3-5 hours. In other words, every time after the game it has to be put on recharging.

Appearance Wii U

The console is outwardly miniature, in length and width it is only a couple of centimeters larger than a sheet of A5 paper, and the height is approximately the same as a standard computer DVD drive. Works almost silently.

However, if you insert a disc into the Wii U, it starts to buzz noticeably. And the hum does not stop for a second, no matter what you do - watch videos on YouTube, read news on the Internet, make purchases in the eShop or have fun with downloaded games. We hope that with the next update, the system will learn how to disable the optical drive when idle.

The case is made of glossy black plastic, on which fingerprints and settled dust are clearly visible. Since the sides of the Wii U are rounded, without the complete "legs" it can not be placed in a vertical position.

On the front is an optical drive slot, power off, eject and sync buttons for connecting wireless controllers to the console. In addition, a slot for SD memory cards and two USB ports are hidden behind a plastic screen.

Of the strange features, it is worth noting the bright white LED indicator of the inserted disk, which does not go out even when the console is turned off. At night, this creates tangible discomfort.

On the back panel there are ports: AC adapter, touch bar connection, HDMI, two USB (this is a definite plus) and AV multi out (for connecting to TVs that do not support HDMI).

It is easy to see that, compared to the Xbox 360 and PS3, the Nintendo console does not have an Ethernet port for wired internet connection. In addition, there is no optical output for sound. For many users, this may seem like a critical flaw.

Introduction to the Wii U GamePad Controller

The main feature of Wii U is its unusual game controller Wi U Gamepad (hereinafter simply gamepad) with a built-in touch screen. The result of this decision was the huge size of the gamepad and the short time of its operation without recharging. As already mentioned, you have to return it to the base every 3-5 hours.

The controller has a cheap 6.2-inch resistive touchscreen, which is a huge downside. Bad viewing angles and a gray “black” color immediately catch your eye. The screen resolution is only 854×480 pixels, which makes web browser text and image objects uncomfortably grainy. These shortcomings stand out especially against the background of modern tablet computers. High resolution, IPS matrix and multi-touch have not been a luxury for a long time.

After capacitive sensors, it is unusual to return to a resistive screen again, which does not respond to touch, but to pressing. Because of this, it is inconvenient to control interface elements with your fingers, except to press with your fingernail to get specifically to the desired area. Therefore, the stylus is essential for precise operations in the Internet browser or in the eShop. In games where the text and menu sections are not so small, you can control with your fingers due to the huge icons.

Despite the serious screen size, it seems small on the body of a huge gamepad, the size of which is difficult to explain by logic, especially if you put an elegant PS Vita next to it, which is also a self-sufficient device.

On the front side of the gamepad is a 6.2-inch screen. Above it is the camera. From the bottom - from left to right - a microphone, buttons Home (to call the system menu), TV (if you want to use the gamepad as a universal remote control) and Power (to turn the device on and off). In addition, there are speaker holes on the right and left, which produce clear and loud sound. Compared to other portable devices, of course.

On the sides of the screen are buttons and sticks familiar to gamepads, but not in the usual places. Unlike Microsoft and Sony, Nintendo decided to put the right analog stick above the A, B, X, Y buttons. Since this is the first time such a solution has been encountered in the history of gamepads, it is difficult to get used to it even after playing several games.

Even harder after the Xbox 360 and PS3 to get used to the fact that the bottom button in the A, B, X, Y system on the Wii U Gamepad is responsible for canceling an action, and the right button is for confirming. Yes, Nintendo has been using this layout for a long time, but it does not excuse the confusion that arises when moving from one console to another. We need to be more flexible and comply, so to speak, with the international standard.

On the upper edge, smoothly flowing into the back side of the gamepad, there are the usual L and R bumpers, below which are the ZL and ZR triggers. And again, it is worth remembering the Xbox 360 and PS3, which have analog triggers in their controllers. On the Wii U, these are ordinary buttons, which means that in racing games you can forget about the smooth adjustment of acceleration and braking.

Also on the top edge is a slot for a stylus, a slider for adjusting the volume of sound from the built-in speakers, an infrared sensor, a headphone hole and an AC adapter port. As mentioned above, the Wii U Controller only charges from a wall outlet.

There is nothing interesting on the back panel, except that it is not made of shiny, glossy plastic, but of rough, pleasant to the touch. A screw-on cover that closes the battery compartment, and a sync button recessed into the case for connecting a gamepad to the console - that's all.

On the bottom there is a port for installation in a special stand for recharging the gamepad.

Thanks to its large size, rough plastic and streamlined bulges on the back of the gamepad, it fits comfortably in your hands. Despite the negative impression of the screen, the assembly of the device as a whole makes a positive impression. Nothing creaks, everything is tightly fitted to each other. Reliable and ergonomic design.

The controller communicates with the console via Wi-Fi. Many users report good and reliable signal reception anywhere in their apartment. Unfortunately, we cannot confirm this information. When you move to another room, the signal disappears. This could be attributed to some specific feature of this room, but the signal from the Wi-Fi router, which is installed next to the Wii U, is received anywhere.

First acquaintance

Frustration and frustration are the emotions you feel after the welcome screen lights up on the console. First, everything is very slow. Slowly switching registration questions and initial settings options. Applications open slowly. Slowly called up the system menu. Secondly, immediately after connecting to the Internet via Wi-Fi, the console asks to install the update. And it starts downloading. Somewhere around 5 GB. And then the installation starts. Somewhere for an hour and a half. Moreover, if at this time the console is disconnected from the mains, then it will turn into a “brick”. Still a roulette wheel.

So, after a few hours, the console is finally ready for work, or rather, for games. You can't watch recorded movies or listen to music here. Of the additional features, there is only a separate YouTube application with a disgusting interface, video chat with other Wii U users, and a wonderful Internet browser. Convenient, fast, with HTML5 support, which means you can comfortably watch YouTube, chat with friends via Twitter or Facebook. Thus, in one fell swoop, Nintendo solved the problem of the plurality of Internet services - everything is available here at once.

Introduction to the Internet browser

The only drawback of the browser is related to the gamepad screen. Alas, the low resolution and the lack of multi-touch make small text difficult to read, and with step-by-step approach, lines often do not fit on the screen.

eShop

Despite the fact that the console has only 32 GB of internal flash memory (in the younger model, even less - 8 GB, of which 3 GB is available to the user), Wii U offers to purchase released games through the eShop. Since the size of modern projects is 4-10 GB, after several purchases, you have to think about connecting an external hard drive to the console. Or completely abandon digital distribution in favor of traditional optical discs.

An interesting feature of Wii U discs (Nintendo uses its own format with the ability to store up to 25 GB of data) is their unique rounded edges. Nice tactile touch.

For obvious reasons, the range of eShop for Wii U is not yet large. Digital versions of already released games and DLC for them are available here. Navigating the store is convenient, albeit slow. The section of each individual game provides complete information about it: description, screenshots, trailers, user ratings and their brief characteristics. In general, very similar to Steam.

Fun fact: games for people over 18 in the eShop are only available for viewing from 23:00 to 3:00. Nintendo attributes this to strict German laws. The European headquarters of the company is located in Germany, so the rules of one state apply to others. But no matter what reasons Nintendo gives for this unfortunate misunderstanding, it does not get easier.

Fun fact number two: All games purchased from the eShop are not tied to your account, but to the console itself. That is, in the event of a breakdown, sale, replacement with a new revision, or some other good reason, you lose all purchased games. In Nintendo service centers, in principle, you can transfer user data from one console to another, but such crutches are perceived at least wildly.

Introduction to eShop

When it comes to the convenience of digital distribution, Nintendo is about on par with the PS3 and far behind the Xbox 360. All purchased games take a very long time to install, and require large updates to be downloaded after launch.

Wii U does not support cloud saves. The usual trophy system is not here. There is a function to turn off the console after the download is complete, but it does not work correctly. There is also no automatic download and installation of updates, everything has to be done manually.

Miiverse

Modern gaming platforms are hard to imagine without convenient ways of social interaction between users. Friend lists, voice and video chats, online leaderboards, high score alerts, keep people connected to each other all the time. And if this is not enough for them, then they have built-in Facebook and Twitter, where game achievements are also broadcast.

Nintendo decided to be original and reduced all social functions to one denominator. As before, the creation of an account is accompanied by the modeling of a Mii avatar - a tiny person who represents the user in games that support this function. For example, in New Super Bros. U or Nintendo Land compete with funny replicas of players dressed up as Mario, Luigi and other Nintendo star heroes.

When the Wii U is turned on, tiny Mii people pour out onto the TV screen, which are grouped around the icons of game projects. Clouds with thoughts or abstract drawings appear above their heads. But this is only a small part of the social service invented by Nintendo called Miiverse.

More precisely, the idea of Miiverse is not entirely original and not entirely original. After clicking on the icon with green men, the user enters a menu similar in function and structure to Twitter. Each individual game has a dedicated communication channel where users write or draw their thoughts with a stylus. After that, the message enters the general stream and quickly disappears under others or becomes the subject of heated discussion. Users can comment on any post or simply mark that they liked it. Often, game developers are present in such channels. In addition, it is through Miiverse that communication between friends is supported.

Journey through Miiverse, due to long downloads, the speed of the video is doubled

Of the useful features of Miiverse, it is worth noting the ability to publish screenshots from games in order to laugh at the absurdity seen, ask for advice or help someone. This is done simply. It is enough to call Miiverse directly from the game, and screenshots from the TV and gamepad screens will automatically appear in the text of the message.

With the help of its social service, Nintendo managed to elegantly solve the main problem of any platformer: audience consolidation. Instead of a list of friends, you can see all active users at once, a question asked always gets an answer, and a joke made gets dozens of “likes”. This is nowhere else.

Inconsistent interface

The biggest mistake that the creators of Wii U made was to move the entire interface of the console to the small screen of the controller. This results in the user spending 99% of non-game time hunched over a gamepad with a stylus in hand. All important non-gaming applications such as the internet browser, eShop and Miiverse are managed in this way. And the low screen resolution and huge buttons (to make it convenient to press with your fingers) greatly spoil the impression.

For this reason, it seems that the Wii U is a clumsy, divided into two unequal parts of the PS Vita clone. A TV is needed insofar as the console itself performs a computing function, and the gamepad has mobility only within the apartment. Yes, thanks to this, you can take it with you to the bedroom to watch YouTube, check your mail or send a message to your friends via Facebook. But let's be honest, now any modern smartphone or tablet computer can do this much better. They cost less than the Wii U (if you don't go for top solutions), have excellent screens, are much more functional and work faster.

Nintendo overestimated the demand for this feature and mistakenly relied on it. When smartphones and tablets became commonplace, the Wii U controller seems like an anachronism. And the leapfrog, sometimes on the TV, then on the gamepad, the inscription “look at another screen” appears, only annoying.

The idea in principle is clear: since the portable Nintendo DS enjoyed crazy success. Why not bring the concept of two screens to the home gaming console sector? But the DS screens were nearby and perceived as a whole. In the case of the Wii U, this is just disorienting. Yes, with the current interface it is much easier to control the stylus, but what about the current one - on the Xbox 360, for example, the interface is sharpened for push-button control, the cursor is useless there.

Iron

According to available information, the Wii U configuration is as follows:

  • CPU: Modified Tri-Core IBM PowerPC 750 @ 1.24 GHz
  • GPU: AMD Radeon High Definition @ 550 MHz

Nintendo and IBM do not provide exact specifications for the processor, but there have been complaints from game developers about its lack of power, which is why some multiplatform games either look worse on Wii U or stutter. However, none of the Wii U exclusives showcase graphics superior to, or even comparable to, the main Xbox 360 and PS3 titles.

  • RAM: 2 GB

Huge by the standards of other consoles, the amount of RAM is the Wii U's biggest mystery, since it still works slowly and switches between applications for a long time. 1 GB is reserved for the operating system, thanks to which there is multitasking. From within the game, you can text a friend, launch an internet browser, or visit an eShop, just like... on a PS Vita with its 512MB of RAM. Only on the latter all these actions are performed much faster. It is all the more strange that on the Wii U, the browser, store, and Miiverse do not work in parallel with each other. Either this or that.

Games are also in no hurry to demonstrate the benefits of RAM allocated to them. What's in New Super Mario Bros. U, that in ZombiU the locations are tiny, there are few objects, the textures are so-so.

On the one hand, Nintendo does not seek to impress anyone with graphics. Wii U displays the image in HD - already progress. At one time, the Wii managed to outsell the Xbox 360 and PS3 combined, even though the games looked on par with the PS2. On the other hand, the Wii has never competed with the Xbox 360 and PS3, these platforms had completely different audiences (based on the names of the most popular games and genres).

Now, Wii U entered the ring with two trained wrestlers at once, who, over the years of confrontation with each other, pumped up hard muscles, sharpened sharp teeth and acquired armies of millions of fans. And now Nintendo appears, the console of which is more expensive, offers fewer functions, more inconveniences, and the graphics are good if on a par. Almost all the major multiplatform games of 2013 pass by Wii U: Dead Space 3, Crysis 3, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, Dark Souls II, and finally Grand Theft Auto V. In other words , the console all this time will just be covered with dust, and PS3 and Xbox 360 - "work, work and work. "

So it's unlikely that Nintendo will be able to capture the attention of the Xbox 360 and PS3 audiences. At least in 2013. Casuals who have lost fat in the gym and dancing on the Wii are also unlikely to be tempted. Motion controllers are no longer exotic, and the new gamepad with a screen does not have a “viral” effect. So for now, the company has to rely on its fans, who are ready to forgive a lot, if not all, for the sake of the new Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda.

  • Internal flash: 8 GB (Basic) or 32 GB (Premium)

The diminutive size of the Wii U is not at all due to the genius of Nintendo engineers, but to the absence of familiar elements, such as, for example, a hard drive. Instead of the latter, the company decided to get by with flash memory. In the age of digital distribution. Not on a portable, but on a home console. When modern games take up not one, not two, but all 10 GB. Yes, you can connect an external hard drive, but it will not add beauty at all.

The need to buy additional devices to turn the Wii U into a home entertainment center is one of the biggest disadvantages of the Wii U. If you want to play shooters and don't want to run every 3 hours to recharge, buy the Pro Controller.

If you want to play Super Mario and other arcade games with a friend, buy two Wii Remotes at once, because New Super Mario Bros. U "quite coincidentally" is not supported by the Pro Controller, and the Wii U Gamepad in co-op only allows you to set platforms.

If for PS3 and Xbox 360 it is enough to buy one gamepad, and all games are open for co-op, then on Wii U the set listed above must be collected.

Application in games

The main feature of the Wii U is the use of an additional screen, which in theory should add convenience to the players and give new experiences. Alas, this is not the case either. For now, at least.

Nintendo was ill-prepared for the launch of the new console. The operating system of the cheese, it still needs to be improved and improved. The company's launch games are more like HD remakes. In multi-platform projects, the gamepad screen with its insignificant functions for dragging items in the inventory only distracts from the action on the TV.

So far, there are only two projects in which the Wii U controller is in demand: a collection of Nintendo Land mini-games and a zombie apocalypse ZombiU. In the latter, the need to constantly take your eyes off the TV screen to fire a sniper rifle, dig through your inventory, or pick locks does a good job of whipping up an atmosphere of horror. But this is an example of a concept that is difficult to find further development within other genres. The touch screen can be pulled by the ears to some 007 Goldeneye-type spy action movie or to a crime investigation with the search for clues in the style of Condemned, and nothing more. Just transferring maps and inventory to it is not the best idea, which also seriously interferes with immersion in the game world.

As for the Nintendo Land compilation, it's full of interesting ideas that Nintendo learned from projects for the 3DS. Blow into the microphone to spin the fan. Tilt the gamepad to control the aim of the flying boat. Draw a trajectory for the dinosaur. And everything else like that. The mini-games get more complicated, they are quite fun to spend time in, but they are easy to forget, because there is no question of new experiences. We have already seen all this.

The only idea that demonstrates the relevance of the screen in the Wii U controller is the notorious asymmetrical multiplayer. This is when users within the same game have completely different roles. For example, in ZombiU multiplayer, a user with a gamepad becomes a zombie master. He plays strategy, buys different types of walking dead (the stronger they are, the more expensive) and places them on the level. The second player with a normal Pro controller is already playing a survival shooter. He runs around the level, shoots crowds of monsters, picks up weapons and earns bonuses.

Unfortunately, such entertainment is interesting only when the players gather in a large company in one place, and there are plenty of additional controllers. Online multiplayer is not available for Nintendo Land and ZombiU. At first, it's fun because of the unusualness of such an idea, and then indifference sets in, because so far these are just naked, unbalanced concepts that do not have the necessary depth and fascination. Nintendo will have to work hard to grow them into standalone games, and not just themed collections.

And the saddest thing for Nintendo is that the secondary screen feature is not at least unusual for today's home consoles. A PS3 + PS Vita bundle achieves a similar "asymmetric" result, which has already been proven with the LittleBigPlanet 2 add-on. An Xbox 360 + anything bundle with the SmartGlass app installed (smartphone, tablet, PC) makes the console interface more convenient, and separate projects (Halo 4 or Forza Horizon) display additional game information on the screens of portable devices.

Diagnosis

There has already been a case in the history of Nintendo when the company, relying on old technologies, was crushed by a progressive competitor. Neither ingenious games, nor an analog stick, nor the magic of Mario's name helped the N64. PSOne came and won with a new, cheap storage format called CDs.

Now the situation is even worse, because Nintendo not only does not want to keep up with the times, it is not even able to catch up with its direct competitors! The Wii U looks dated compared to the Xbox 360 and PS3. Too few options. Too many problems with multiplatform. Too slow and cumbersome (considering the number of wires and power supplies), requiring a plethora of different controllers. There are too many strange, inconvenient decisions that defy logical explanation. Too little built-in memory, and digital distribution is constantly gaining popularity. And too little third-party publisher support.

It's entirely possible that Nintendo will eventually sort out the problems, update the software, release a few remakes of the classics, give birth to long-awaited sequels. But it won't be soon. On the one hand, Nintendo was six years late with the launch of the Wii U, but on the other hand, it was rushed and poorly prepared. So users in the coming months can only fantasize about the prospects. And by the time the Wii U takes off, there will be far more compelling next-generation consoles from Microsoft and Sony on the market.

However, it will not be superfluous to recall how this article began. Nintendo is a skillful player. So far, she has bad cards in her hands, but who knows how the company will dispose of them. Nintendo is ready for sacrifices and is not going to give up the market so easily - it is proved by the example of 3DS. But this time, the company will have to do something extraordinary. One price cut and the release of Mario Kart HD is no longer enough.

Pro:

  • The chance to finally see Nintendo games in HD
  • Additional screen on the gamepad allows you to create unusual games
  • Support for Wii games and motion controllers
  • An interesting asymmetrical multiplayer concept demonstrated in ZombiU and Nintendo Land
  • Fast and multifunctional Internet browser
  • Convenient eShop organization
  • Excellent Social Service Miiverse

Contra:

  • Huge Operating System Update on Launch Day
  • Frustratingly slow switching between apps
  • Two power supplies, as a result, two sockets are occupied at once - for Wii U and Wii U Gamepad
  • Games for people over 18 years old are available in the eShop only from 23:00 to 03:00
  • Noisy optical drive won't stop even when no information is being read from disk
  • Lack of Ethernet ports and optical output for audio
  • Wii U Gamepad only lasts 3-5 hours on a single charge
  • Cheap resistive screen in Wii U Gamepad with poor viewing angles, low resolution and gray "black" color
  • Missing trophies and cloud saves
  • Pile of all kinds of additional accessories to comfortably play cooperative games
  • Only 32 (8) GB of built-in memory puts a strong limit on the future of digital distribution on Wii U
  • The power of the Wii U is somewhere on par with the Xbox 360 or even weaker in terms of the quality of multi-platform games and released exclusives

Many people are familiar with the game Just Dance 2015 or have at least seen how it is played on the PlayStation and Xbox consoles and danced in front of TV screens. Just Dance Now is the same game made for those who don't have a console.

However, a smartphone is not enough to play Just Dance Now. You will also need a PC, laptop, Smart TV or tablet - any device with a screen and Internet access. All actions will take place on a large screen in a browser window, while the smartphone will become a motion controller.

To start playing, launch the Just Dance Now app on your smartphone and open the game website on your second device.

After launching the application, you will see a catalog of songs. Now there are 346 of them, the music library continues to grow. The songs are divided into categories: “Smile and dance”, “Rhythm Latino”, “Hall of fame”, “Fitness”, “Children's corner”. There is also a search by name.

Before choosing a song, you can see how to dance to it. If you liked the track, add it to "Favorites" or go to the "Dance Room".

To start dancing to the selected song, you will need in-game currency. You can earn it by dancing to free songs. If you want to buy coins for real money, then there is an in-game store for this.

After selecting a song on your smartphone, you will need to enter the numbers from the Just Dance Now website or scan the QR code from there to enter the party. So the application on the smartphone is synchronized with the web game. Then take the smartphone in your right hand - this is now your game controller.

Stand comfortably in front of the screen and start mimicking the movements of the dancers as if it were your reflection in a mirror.
