Len was born in 1944, in the Bethnal Green area of East London, England. He began dancing at the age of 19 as a therapeutic treatment for his foot injury.

Dancing With The Stars judge leaves show after 19 years
The 78-year-old shared the news of his retirement with fans on the ongoing DWTS season 32.
“Whilst we all are getting excited and looking forward so much to the finale next week, it would also be with a touch of sadness and this will be my last season judging on ‘Dancing With The Stars,” he said.
He shared the reason for his exit stating he wants to spend more time with his friends and family. “I’ve been with the show since it started in 2005 and it has been a huge pleasure to be a part of such a wonderful show but I’ve decided I want to spend more time with my children and family.”
Speaking to People later, the head judge of DWTS said he will miss the California sunshine and his fellow judges.

The longtime presence revealed on Monday’s episode of the dance competition show that he will not be returning for Season 32.
“Whilst we all are getting excited and looking forward so much to the finale next week, it would also be with a touch of sadness and this will be my last season judging on ‘Dancing with the Stars,'” the 78-year-old said.
“I’ve been with the show since it started in 2005 and it has been a huge pleasure to be a part of such a wonderful show but I’ve decided I want to spend more time with my children and family.
”
He continued, “I cannot thank enough the family of ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ it has been such a wonderful experience for me and I’m looking forward so much to next week’s finale, I’m sure it’s going to be absolutely brilliant.”

The former professional dancer — who currently resides in Kent, England — told People that doing the show has gotten “more challenging” as he has gotten older.
