Undoubtedly, Dance Moms has been widely popular for its eight seasons on Lifetime. The eighth season of Dance Moms premiered on Lifetime in 2019. It has already been over two years, but the fans are still waiting for Dance Moms Season 9. So, will the show return? What are the chances? Let us find that out below-

Dance Moms is a dance reality TV show that debuted on Lifetime in 2011. It follows the training and grooming of aspiring young dancers at Abby Lee Dance Company. Abby Lee Miller is the founder of the academy who personally oversees and mentors the young dancers. The reality series is created by Collins Avenue Productions. After eight eventful seasons, the show has been off-air for more than two years, and fans are still wondering about Dance Moms Season 9.

Will There Be Dance Moms Season 9?

Unfortunately, Abby lately announced that she would not return for Dance Moms Season 9, even if the network renewed the program. The cancelation of Dance Moms: Abby’s Virtual Dance-Off, on the other hand, could be the end of Abby’s Lifetime voyage. Abby posted a video seeking for submissions and advertising the show before it got canceled.

Adriana Smith shared how Miller handled them after Miller’s protest against police brutality and racism last year. Smith reacted promptly to Miller’s article, claiming that Miller had made racial slurs to her and her younger daughter, Kamryn Smith. Miller soon apologized, claiming she “truly regrets” and that she had no idea how her remarks had impacted Smith and Kamryn. Miller went on to say that she hopes to earn their forgiveness one day.

On the other hand, Adriana didn’t appear to believe her own remarks. According to Miller, Adriana refused to accept Abby’s apologies because she wasn’t serious, and Miller even failed to identify Adriana and her daughter. Adriana learned of Miller’s apologies thanks to a mutual friend. Although Adriana’s article and Miller’s charges received no response from Lifetime. It didn’t even reveal the reason for Abby’s Virtual Dance Off’s cancelation, after the eighth season concluded in September 2019.

About The Show!

‘Dance Moms’ follows the Abby Lee Dance Company’s Junior Elite Competition Team as they travel to several dance contests every week. The episodes follow them as they compete for prestigious honors while preparing for the Nationals. Miller, in the meantime, prepares them to be “professional, employable working dancers.”

The series also focuses on the accompanying mothers, who have their own rivalries and disagreements with their daughters. They also get into intense arguments with Miller from time to time. Along with supporting instructors and producers, Miller usually devises the competition’s format and choreographs the show with the help of her staff and guest choreographer on occasion. It involves opposing dance teams competing against one another to see who will rise to the top.

‘Dance Moms’ is a hugely popular reality show, emphasizing the drama and strife between Miller and the fighting mothers. The weekly face-offs, deep friendships among the students, and their steady gains are, of course, additional factors that contribute to the show’s popularity.

The show’s primary character, Miller, is a severe dance team coach. She motivates her students with constructive criticism and comments. She tries to elicit the best performance from her daughters by emphasizing hard work and a competitive mentality. The eighth season of Dance Moms finished up last year, and fans are wondering whether the infamous Abby Lee Miller and her team of talented ALDC dancers will be jetéing across our screens for a ninth season.

Abby made a big comeback last year with an entirely new team of dancers and, some may argue, a new attitude. Fans, however, were skeptical from the start. They worried how the new team, made of dancers who were brought in from different studios across the country to compete on the ALDC, would live up to the original cast. Specifically, fans have noted the new dancers seem to have come onto the show with the goal of being a star the, whereas the originals, at least initially, were just there to dance and compete. The new team also appears to lack the level of cohesion that the original girls had which came from years of dancing together.

But it wasn't just the season 8 cast that had longtime fans concerned. After the show aired in June, some viewers argued that this season lacks the same magic as the show’s original episodes.

Despite these concerns, however, viewers still seem interested in getting another season of dancing and, of course, the inevitable drama. But what do we know about season 9 so far?

Dance Moms been renewed for season 9?

A Lifetime spokesperson told Woman's Day back in August that the network has yet to confirm whether Dance Moms: Resurrection will be returning for another season. The show’s ratings have been noticeably lower than in previous seasons, but that’s to be expected without the big-name draws from the previous cast.

On March 12, Miller posted a photo on Instagram showing herself and Dance Mom's Executive Producer Bryan Stinson at the office of A& E Networks (which owns Lifetime) with the caption "What a meeting! Whew!!!" leaving plenty of fans guessing they were meeting about an upcoming season.

When would season 9 air?

Dance Moms seasons are notoriously long, with some racking up a total of 30 to 40 episodes split into two season halves. The first of the two halves (with the exception of season 7) generally aired in January, with the second half airing the following summer or fall. Season 8, however, kicked off in June and will only had 18 episodes and two reunion specials. And with no news of an upcoming season, it's safe to assume that season 9 wouldn't air until June as well.

Everyone’s replaceable, or so says Abby. With season 8 already seeing the departure of Savannah Kristich and her mom Erin, as well as a temporary absence from Brady Farrar after he was sent home for being too good.

Principle

Every week at the Abby Lee Dance Company in Pittsburgh, a group of young dancers led by Abby Lee Miller train for a dance competition. The group usually consists of 5-8 dancers, depending on the episodes of the show. Every week they learn a new group choreography and also, for some, a trio, duo or solo. Solo during competitions is the privilege of little girls and the object of many conflicts between their mothers. Each episode begins with a "pyramid", a ranking created by choreographer Abby to represent the best and worst performances from the previous week. The episode usually ends with an awards ceremony for the winners of the contest. Maddie Ziegler is considered Abby's favorite dancer. She performs solo almost every week, is the winner of most competitions and is almost always at the top of the pyramid. This creates tension with each episode between her mother, Melissa, and the other little girls' mothers. The tension between these mothers and Abby Lee Miller is also at the center of the show.

Abby Lee Dance Company

Abby Lee Miller started her own dance company at the age of 14. Abby Lee Dance Company is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where Abby Lee Miller was born and has always lived. The dance troupe is open to children ages 2 to 18 and offers many dance classes ranging from tap to hip hop including jazz. In addition to Abby, these lessons are taught by six well-known teachers. Abby Lee Miller's goal is that after being fully trained in her studio, her students can start a career as a professional dancer.

Choreographies

Abby Lee Miller is an acclaimed choreographer, so choreographic sequences play a big role in the performance. Abby's creations are unique in that each one tells a story. Considered one of Abby's finest choreographies, "Last Lyrics" features dancers imitating a tragically ending car ride. Young girls also often play famous characters on stage. Maddie has visibly stepped into the shoes of Helen Keller, the blind, deaf-mute writer. Abby even told Near, who previously performed a tribute to Maya Angelou, the choreography in memory of her deceased dog, a Bichon named Broadway Baby.

Criticism and controversy

After another run-in with Abby, Kelly Hyland beats the choreographer and ends up on trial. As a result, she and her daughters will leave the show. The incident can be seen in an episode that aired on February 11, 2014. In turn, Kelly Hyland also sued Abby Lee on behalf of her daughter Paige, accusing her of bullying. Abby indeed, among other bullying, advised Kelly to seek treatment for Paige's mental problems. Many viewers have criticized Abby Lee's attitude towards her students, saying that she is solely responsible for the nervous breakdowns of Kelly Hyland or other mothers.
