How low can you go line dance

Line dances & other related music

DJ Tips, DLK Entertainment News

The question is always: Why line dances? The answer is very simple, at a private event there are folks of all ages & class. The one thing most folks know is things like the chicken dance & the electric slide. It gets folks up on the dance floor most folks don’t want to be the first on the dance floor. These songs get large groups of folks on the floor all at once. We hear from folks & other dj’s how they don’t play these songs & they know their guests. If that is true then cool but as we all know that is not a 100% of the time. If your in a club then the mix will keep the crowd alive but in a private event you never know who your guests are going to be. It is always best to have these songs on stand by just in case.

Why just in case? In a word Family! If the Mother of the Bride wants one of these played it is always good to remember the Bride may say it is ok even after the fact she was dead set against the idea. Keep the family happy. O.k. the following is most common activity songs played at weddings & events. You might call them cheesy but they do work.

What is the difference between line dancing and group dances?

Group dance songs and line dance songs are played at wedding receptions to get people all together on the dance floor — in a group.

Group and line dance songs are also known as audience participation songs. Group songs played can invoke a conga line, a train line, rows of line dancing, and more!

Group songs are generally less complicated as far as dance moves are concerned. “Shout” by the Isley Brothers – shouting and raising hands, “Willie & The Hand Jive” by Johnny Otis – a routine hand jive.

Lastly, we would recommend “The Stroll” by the Diamonds. Everyone lines up with men on one side and women on the other. Then, each couple goes through the line under everyone’s hands. It’s a classic.

Should you have line dancing at your wedding?

A better question maybe if you want people to dance at your wedding. It’s up to you, as the wedding couple, to decide the mood they want at their wedding reception. Some couples think group dance songs as cheesy or overplayed at wedding receptions. But when the moment hits, it can be pure magic.

There are many country songs to choose from that your DJ can play at your wedding. Many guests at wedding receptions would know them as line dance songs. However, our most popular country line dance songs are “Achy Breaky Heart” by Billy Ray Cyrus, “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” by Brooks & Dunn, and “Chattahoochee” by Alan Jackson, and “Watermelon Crawl” by Tracy Bird. Popular pop radio songs have created dance crazes also. These songs include “Macarena” by Los Del Rio, “Cha Cha Slide” by Mr. C, “Electric Slide” by Marcia Griffiths, and “The Twist” by Chubby Checker.

Is line dancing still popular?

Yes and no. Country dancers still like to line dance whether it be at a club, party, or wedding. However, due to the mass overplay of line dances at weddings, many couples are choosing to add popular line dance songs to their “do not playlists”. Whether or not to play line dance songs at your wedding should be determined by your guests and whether or not the songs will pack the dance floor.

Are group songs too cheesy?

Group songs are cheesy. Cheesy is fun. Embrace the cheese! People may smirk for a moment until they see everyone else having fun. Have you done the conga up and down a wedding boat? It’s really fun.

Songs that will entice a group conga line or train line include “C’mon N’ Ride It (The Train)” by Quad City DJ’s, “Conga” by Miami Sound Machine, and “The Loco-motion” by Grand Funk Railroad, and “The Locomotion” by Little Eva.

Another activity at more casual or upbeat wedding receptions is the limbo. We added the most popular limbo song, “Limbo Rock” by Chubby Checker, below. However, if the bridal couple wants a lengthy limbo line at their wedding reception, be sure to check out our long list of best limbo songs.

What are the most popular line dances?

Popular line dances include:

  • Cowboy Cha Cha
  • Electric Slide
  • Cha Cha Slide
  • Tush Push
  • Hokey Pokey
  • Chicken Dance

Include a Line Dance Lesson

Talk to your professional wedding planner and DJ. They probably know someone who can teach a few line dancing songs. And if they don’t, look to your local bars. Someone is always teaching line dancing. Don’t worry if country music isn’t your jam. Country line dancing can be done to any genre of music that has a good beat!

A current popular thing to do at weddings is to have a choreographed dance with a group of people. For this, you would select your own songs. We have seen routine dances to “Forever” by Chris Brown and, of course, “Thriller” by Michael Jackson on YouTube. Old-time kid songs are also very popular to fill the dance floor at wedding receptions. These songs include the Hokey Pokey, the Chicken Dance, and the Bunny Hop.

Sam Smith - Dance ('Til You Love Someone Else) lyrics

Original

Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, dance

Thought I buried you and I
But I have diamonds in my eyes
Such a bitter tear to cry
You're still ruining my life
I'm not over it, I'm not over it
I remember every taste
If I get a little wasted, I can almost see your face
Such a dark and lonely place
I'm not over it
Someone get me over it

And come find me
Wrap your arms around me, baby
They say you can't fall out of love 'til you love someone else
Where have you been hiding?
When my heart's been slowly breaking
They say you can't fall out of love 'til you love someone else
'Til then

Guess I'll dance (Dance, dance, dance, dance)
Guess I'll dance (Dance, dance, dance, dance)
'Til then
Guess I'll dance (Dance, dance, dance, dance)
Guess I'll, guess I'll dance (Dance, dance, dance, dance)

Can't forget the way you move me
Try and drown you in the music
Hold my breath and close my eyes
Gotta drag you out my mind
Still not over it (Over it, no)
Someone get me over it

And come find me (Oh)
Wrap your arms around me, baby
They say you can't fall out of love 'til you love someone else (Oh)
Where have you been hiding?
When my heart's been slowly breaking
They say you can't fall out of love 'til you love someone else
'Til then

Guess I'll dance (Dance, dance, dance, dance) (Dance)
Guess I'll dance (Dance, dance, dance, dance)
'Til then
Guess I'll dance (Dance, dance, dance , dance)
Guess I'll, guess I'll dance (Dance, dance, dance, dance)

I've never been this low
Feel so out of control
Throw down a miracle
Sip on your holy ghost
I've never felt this low
Cry like an animal
Sadness is beautiful

So come find me
Wrap your arms around me, baby (Oh)
They say you can't fall out of love
They say you can't fall out of love
Where have you been hiding? (Oh, no no)
When my heart's been slowly breaking
They say you can't fall out of love 'til you love someone else
(Whoa, oh)

Guess I'll dance (Dance, dance, dance, dance)
Guess I'll dance (Dance, dance, dance, dance)

Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, dance

I thought I buried you and myself
But there are diamonds in my eyes.
Such bitter tears to cry
You're still ruining my life
I'm not done with it yet, I'm not done with it yet.
I remember every taste
If I get a little drunk, I can almost see your face.
Such a dark and lonely place
I'm still not over this
Somebody help me get through this

And come and find me
Hold me baby.
They say you can't stop loving until you love someone else.
Where were you hiding?
When my heart was slowly breaking
They say you can't stop loving until you love someone else.
Until

I think I'll dance (Dance, dance, dance, dance).
I think I'll dance (Dance, dance, dance, dance).
Until
I think I'll dance (Dance, dance, dance, dance).
I think I will, I think I will dance (Dance, dance, dance, dance)

Can't forget how you touch me
Try to drown you in the music
Hold my breath and close my eyes
I gotta get you out of my mind .
Still haven't gotten over it (Get over it, no)
Somebody help me get over this

And come and find me (Oh)
Hold me baby.
They say you can't stop loving until you love someone else (O)
Where have you been hiding?
When my heart was slowly breaking
They say you can't stop loving until you love someone else.

I think I will dance (Dance, dance, dance, dance) (Dance)
I think I will dance (Dance, dance, dance, dance)
As long as
I think I I will dance (Dance, dance, dance, dance)

Born to hand jive

Born to dance hand jive

1

Before I was born, late one night,
My papa said everything's alright
The doctor paid, mama laid down,
With her stomach bouncing all around
Cause the bebop stork was about to arrive

I could barely walk when I milked the cow,
When I was three, I pushed a plow
While chopping wood I move my legs,
And I started the dance while I gathered eggs
The town folk clapped, I was only five
Out-danced 'em all, he's born to hand-jive

Oh yeah, yeah, yeah - everybody
Born to hand-jive, baby,
Born to hand-jive, baby - yeah

How low can you go?
How low can you go?
How low can you go?
How low can you go?

Higher, higher, higher and higher
Now can you hand-jive, baby,
Oh can you hand-jive, baby

Before I was born, late one evening,
Dad said, "It's all right. "
The doctor was paid, my mother went to bed,
Her stomach was trembling,
After all, the stork was supposed to fly.
And my mother gave birth to a hand jive lover.

I barely learned to walk, and already milked cows,
When I was three, I followed the plow.
While chopping wood, learning dance moves,
And he began to dance while collecting eggs.
People in the city applauded, I was only five,
I danced them all; he was born to dance hand jive

Oh, yes, yes, yes - everything!
Born to Hand Jive Baby
Born to Hand Jive Baby Yes

How low can you bend down?
How low can you bend down?
How low can you bend down?
How low can you bend down?

Higher, higher, higher and higher!
Can you do hand jive, baby?
Can you do hand jive, baby?
Oh yes, oh yes, oh yes
Born to dance hand jive, oh yes!
