How did john schneider do on dancing with the stars
John Schneider Reveals Real Reason He Appeared on 'Dancing With the Stars'
By Gayle Thompson
John Schneider made it to sixth place on Season 27 of Dancing With the Stars, a feat that he says was both a blessing and a curse. The actor and singer, who wanted to be on the show at least in part to remind fans of his music career, saw the reality TV competition as a great platform for the next phase of his career.
"The reason I went on the show – because they'd asked before – was because we had released a single every Tuesday of this year, so this year's all been about music, and [my girlfriend and business partner] Alicia and I both wanted people to start thinking about me musically rather than just as the guy from any number of television shows," Schneider told PopCulture.com. "I love the television shows, but we do independent music, so we paid for all this music, and it would be nice to actually sell some of it. "
Still, the New York native was unaware of how exhausting and grueling his time on the TV show would be.
"I had no idea really how much of a time commitment and effort commitment it was going to be," Schneider admitted. "So [pro partner Emma Slater] and I rehearsed at least five hours a day every day that I was doing that, so it was ten weeks. And on the days we actually shot, on Mondays when we actually did the show live, that was a day that started at 7:30 in the morning and didn't end until 9:00 or so at night. Actually, sometimes it was midnight, because if you made it through, you'd rehearse the next week's dance. You'd start rehearsing. So it was pretty crazy."
"But I loved it," he continued. "I enjoyed it. I lost 26 pounds doing the show. Time-wise, what was so odd was we'd already committed to, not a big concert schedule, but some concerts, and some autograph signing things, and I still do car shows ... So there were concerts, there were autograph shows, then Dancing with the Stars called, and we said yes, and fit that schedule over top of the existing schedule. And then it just got insane. It got crazy busy, and I lasted for seven weeks."
Schneider became a fan favorite on DWTS, but had to bow out of the upcoming tour, for a very good reason.
"We spent an incredible amount of time this year doing music, and creating content, and next year is going to be all about doing concerts and selling records, really," Schneider explained. "Well, whatever they're called now. Downloads, and CDs, and all that kind of stuff. When we did Dancing with the Stars, it was all-consuming, and the tour sounded like it was not going to be all-consuming ... It became all-consuming."
"All of a sudden, 'Well, yeah, you'll be singing, but it won't be any of your music, because we can't change the show at all from one person to the next,'" he added. "Which makes sense to me, but it wasn't how they tabled it. They tabled it like, 'Hey, come on, you can do your music, and we'll help you promote your music,' but that was kind of a bit of a bait and switch. "
Even though the Dukes of Hazzard star won't be on tour, both he and his music will still be a part of some of the tour stops.
"We talked about it initially, and it was like, if it can't be about helping me further the music career that I'm picking back up again, then there's really nothing in this for me," explained Schneider. "I'm 58 years old. I've had a lot of fun. I had a great time doing the show, but it has to be about selling my music, not about selling your show."
Instead of dancing, Schneider will perform concerts to coincide with the Dancing With the Stars tour.
"I can't wait to see Milo [Manheim] again," Schneider said. "I mean, Milo, what a doll. I can't wait to see Juan Pablo again. So these are friendships we'll have. Bobby [Bones]. These are friendships I'll have always, so I want to go see them do the show without having the responsibility of having to go up there and sing 'Thank God I'm a Country Boy,' and do a quick step at the same time. "
In addition to Schneider's daunting Odyssey project, which by the end of the year will have 52 songs – one each week of the year throughout 2018 – and an upcoming Greatest Hits project, the multi-talented star also has several other business ventures, which he has streamlined for his loyal fans.
"I have an app!" Schneider revealed. "I've come into this century. Because of Snapchat, and Facebook, and Twitter, and Instagram, and MySpace ... We have an AirBnb. We have all kinds of things at the studio, but there were too many places to send people, so we hired someone and designed an app which is a portal. So if you go and you get the free app, John Schneider, just the John Schneider app, it will take you to all those places so you don't have to remember."0comments

John Schneider (‘Dancing with the Stars’): From Duke to Ballroom King
- Reality TV
When John Schneider enters the ballroom for the upcoming 27th season of “Dancing with the Stars” he’ll be the very first cast member from “The Dukes of Hazard” to compete for the Mirror Ball Trophy, but can he actually win? The new season begins on September 24, so before he hits the dance floor let’s consider his pros and cons.
Schneider has been a fixture on the small screen since he was 17 years old when he won the role of Bo Duke on the hit CBS series, “The Dukes of Hazzard” (1979-1985), which made both him and co-star Tom Wopat household names. Then from 2001-2006, Schneider played Jonathan Kent (the adoptive father of Superman) for the first five seasons of the hit WB/CW series “Smallville,” which gives him two generations of fans to draw votes from.
Schneider has also been quite a renaissance man. At the height of his popularity during “The Dukes of Hazzard” he began a second career as a country singer, and he has released nine studio albums and a greatest hits package, as well as 18 singles. Schneider has also appeared on Broadway twice, in “Grand Hotel” and “Chicago,” as well as in national touring productions of “Brigadoon” and “The Civil War.” So with that much prior experience in music and live performance, he looks like one to watch for in the ballroom.
His professional partner will be Emma Slater. Out of her nine previous seasons, Slater hasn’t had that great of a track record for the most part. She finished in 12th place twice: with Redfoo in season 20 and with Rick Perry in season 23. She finished 10th with Billy Dee Williams on season 18. But she did finally win in season 24 with Rashad Jennings, and in season 25 she made it to fourth place with Drew Scott, so maybe there is hope for her.
Age is nothing but a number, but Schneider, at age 58, might still be at a disadvantage. To date the oldest Mirror Ball winner is Donny Osmond, who was 51 when he prevailed in season 9. Will he be able to keep up with the whippersnappers in this intense physical competition?

An inside look at the events of the "Master Show"
NASHVILLE - Team benches are usually sacred areas for hockey players and coaching staff. Sometimes TV people are allowed in there for interviews, but usually strategy is discussed here, team conversations are going on ... In general, a private zone.
However, nothing of the kind was observed during Saturday's "Master Show". The benches were filled with a wide variety of people, from children of hockey players to journalists from leading publications, representatives of the NHL and the players' union. It was a unique experience and NHL.com couldn't miss this opportunity.
Here's a look at what happened on the benches during Saturday's contests (in chronological order):
*Florida Panthers forward Jaromir Jagr stops chatting with Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn in center court. Jagr and Benn played for Dallas in the 2012/13 season. Just then, Stars center Tyler Seguin rides by and pats Jagr on the head in tribute to his new hairdo.
* Leaving the ice after a warm-up, Jágr notices ex-NHL hockey player Matthew Barnaby, who now works for Sirius XM NHL radio station, wearing a bright pink jacket. Jagr, who played alongside Barnaby for the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Islanders, looks stunned.
"God, Barney," Jagr screams and can't stop laughing at his jacket. "Nothing's changed. Still an idiot."
Barnaby bursts out laughing after hugging Jagr. The jacket was bought on Monday.
* In the locker room after the warm-up, Benn talks about the competition for the most spectacular shootout. He admits that he still does not know what he will do. "I'll have to watch YouTube, maybe I'll see something worthwhile," says Benn.
* The contests are about to begin and Nashville Predators defenseman Shay Webber is being asked which stick he will use in the competition for the most powerful shot - a familiar one or some new one. He is unsure and notes that he is under pressure.
* Predators forward James Neal has just learned that he will be entering the night's opening speed contest. He looks shocked, his heart sank into his heels. Seconds later, he breathes a sigh of relief because he doesn't have to enter this contest, it was a mistake.
"I seem to have been confused with Yossi," Neil said. "Thank God."
* Neal runs off the bench and heads down the tunnel to meet country singer Dirks Bentley, who is wearing a Predators jersey.
* Neil asks the coach for the puck without giving any explanation. Soon he goes on the ice to participate in the shootout competition, and it becomes clear why he needs it.
Neil rolls out on a date with New Jersey Devils goaltender Corey Schneider, shoots the puck over the net, immediately retrieves a second puck and sends it into the net.
"It all happened quickly," Neal said, noting that the idea of such a performance of the bullet came to his mind a couple of minutes before the start of the competition.
* Schneider and Panthers goaltender Roberto Luongo fake a fight as San Jose Sharks defenseman Brent Burns, 4-year-old son, Jagger, and Sharks captain Joe Pavelski, 5-year-old son, Nathan, accompanied by their fathers, they lead the puck. Luongo shoves Schneider aside, but to the delight of the crowd, the boys hit the gate.
Jagger Burns chooses a moment and, holding a photograph of his father, performs a dance on camera. Burns and Pavelski said the idea was conceived on Friday, the details were discussed on Saturday, and Luongo and Schneider were informed.
"I didn't know there was a dance planned," says Pavelski.
"There were no dances planned," adds Burns.
* Neal goes on the ice for a shootout and calls for someone to help. This is Bentley, who, along with Neil, goes to the goaltender and scores the puck. The musician rolls on the ice on his knee, passes the players and celebrates his success.
"Today I met him for the first time," Neal said of Bentley, who plays in the amateur hockey league and is friends with Webber. "He's close with some of the guys, so I sent him a couple of messages in the morning and it's great that he agreed" .
* Duchene scores his second shootout attempt with one hand and throws his cowboy hat into the stands. Like a boomerang, it flies back and falls in the front row, becoming a gift for the boy sitting there.
A few minutes later, Duchene returns to the bench with that hat and says that it was returned to him for an autograph. He signs the hat and gives the boy a more valuable souvenir.
* In anticipation of the competition for the most powerful shot, Seguin talks about Webber. He laments that he tried to bend his club, but it did not come close.
"I leaned on her with my whole body, but there was no result," says Seguin.
Seguin, who also competes, is asked how strong his throw is. "Not that much," he says, laughing.
* Predators forward Mike Ribeiro is spotted near the dressing rooms and then in the tunnel that leads to the ice.
"My son is on the bench," said Ribeiro. "He wanted me to be by his side, but I told him, 'Not this year.'"
Ribeiro competed in the 2008 All-Star Game in Atlanta.
* The Predators coach takes three clubs from the back and gives them to Webber, who is preparing to enter the most powerful shot competition.
Webber begins to talk about the uncertainty of his victory, because he was tired of sitting for two hours. He also does not say which club he will throw.
"I can't reveal my secrets," he says.
* Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad shoots the puck at a speed of 93.4 mph and gets whistled from the stands.
"You shouldn't do that," says the embarrassed Seguin.
Seguin enters the ice and shoots at 91.2 m/h on the first try and 95.0 m/h on the second.
"That's not bad," he says. "NHL player level."
"Thank God," says Stars coach Lindy Ruff from the bench.
Nevertheless, Raff jokingly reproaches Seguin that John Scott performed better than him (95. 9). The hockey player responds with a gesture showing the need to pump up muscles.
* Webber, with the stick he had in his hand the entire time, scores 105.3 mph on his first try. In the second attempt, he shows a result of 108.1. Then he gives an interview to NBCSN's Pierre McGuire as the fans chant "One more shot." Webber complies with the request, sending the puck into the net at a speed of 107.8 miles per hour.
It soon became clear that Webber was using a 130 flex stick, which one of the TV people compared to a crowbar. This explains why Seguin was unable to bend it. Webber said that he typically uses a 122 flex stick, which still doesn't compare to sticks other defensemen use.
Ryan McDonagh of the New York Rangers said after the contest that he uses an 85 flex stick. When he found out that Webber was using 130 flex, McDonagh said, "I'd better get pumped up."
Justin Faulk of the Carolina Hurricanes said he has been using 95 flex sticks for the past two years. Ekblad said he used 95 flex in the competition, but usually plays with 87 flex. He couldn't imagine playing with a Webber stick.
"Unimaginable," Ekblad says and heads for the shower. The event has ended.
