– Did everything work right away? Have you ever wanted to give up a crazy idea to play without seeing each other and the notes?
- There was a moment when I almost abandoned the idea, during the first rehearsal at the Planetarium it became clear that it was impossible to play the program for an hour and a half in absolute darkness for the whole orchestra - everything was memorized and without any visual contact between the artists. Some of my colleagues, wonderful musicians, then refused to play, left, because it was hard to even imagine how to play 150 musical pages by heart in the dark! – For me, development is always an effort. I wanted people to get more emotions, impressions, comfort. By the summer of 2017, we had made 8 different programs - I had a team that I led and had ideas about a big show that would change the world, people, and the idea of classics.
All this could not be realized within the walls of the Planetarium.
There were too many conventions. For example, "Starry Sky" should not be lit for more than 12 minutes, otherwise it will overheat. Expensive tickets to cover all project costs. – When did you realize that you and the organizers of Roof Music Fest see the future of the project in different ways?
- The guys still continue to make concerts with the name "Classics in the Dark" in the Planetarium.
I am sure that the classical music under the stars format has found its audience. In 2017, JazzDoIt music agency contacted me. We did a concert with them in the fall of 2017 at the Oktyabrsky Concert Hall. It was a jump in the project from 350 to 3500 thousand people. I was happy.
