What Our Customers Are Saying

“ I am a Steinway and Sons artist, have sold millions of recordings and had over 30 White House performances. Requests were made at a White House party for some Stevie Wonder tunes so I immediately pulled out my iPad, summoned Musicnotes and bought sheet music for "Overjoyed" and "Ribbon in the Sky". Your company has made me look great in so many performances. Thank you for this fabulous gift musicnotes is to performers.

- David Osborne, Steinway Artist and "Pianist to the Presidents"

“ I sing some of the most current songs thanks to Musicnotes. I do not know how I would be able to find such great quality piano pieces and such an affordable price anywhere else. I love that I can find basically any song I want in your wide variety of music. I am also glad that you give a preview of the song so I can hear it before I buy it. This site is such a huge help to my performing abilities and is the ONLY site that I will buy sheet music from.

- Z. Schaffer, High School Student

“ As a piano bar performer I must try to play all requests. I need the sheet music now, today, while it is hot and can earn me tips. I don't have time to find it in a collection or something containing songs I already have, or to wait for the Post Office to deliver it to me. With Musicnotes I can order it, pay for it, and have it in minutes. I can use the song that night & make a better living.

- G. Fitzgerald, Piano Bar Performer

Product Description

An excellent arrangement of the famous Song "The Chicken Dance" (Dance Little Bird) for Piano-Jazz/Pop Version.

The video for Piano: https://youtu.be/pGc4An4ibTE

The composition is easy to read, fun to play and sound professional when performed. Arranged by Fishel Pustilnik, very well known as Composer/Publisher. His books "Jazz & Pop Piano Paradise" (Volumes 1-5) have become a commercial success and a hit with music teachers and students in Canada. (Thousands of books already sold in Canada). They are also starting to enter the US, Brazil, Norway, Russia, Holland, Israel, Belgium, Sweden, Finland, Greece, Latvia, and the UK markets. "This is a wonderful new publication. These pieces offer much appeal for the young pianist and excellent choice for a supplementary book for students from Grade 3 to 8." Lore Ruschiensky, Editor, (from the review in "The Canadian Music Teacher") "Yesterday I spent at least two pleasure-filled hours playing through your imaginatively inventive compositions. Congratulations! I trust students will decide to program your well crafted and entertaining works on recitals and examinations. " Review from Dr. Jack Behrens, B.Sc. (Julliard), Ph.D. (Harvard), Director of Academic Studies, The Glenn Gould School "I liked this book the best so far. Great work! You have a gift for melody and your arrangements are very playable. Congratulations on the 3rd Volume". Mark Carlstein, Hal Leonard, Keyboard Publications.

Why not teach a child to music

December 2, 2016 Life

Five years ago I picked up a hammer and smashed a hammer piano. Truth. Never in my life have I been so happy. And I want to tell you why you shouldn't force children to study music.

Music schools are inexplicably popular with parents, as are dance clubs or art schools. The benefits of dancing can still be found (after all, physical activity), but the trouble is with drawing and music.

Once upon a time, the ability to play an instrument and make sketches in albums was a pass to "decent society". Apparently, since then, people have been convinced that teaching a child to play the cello or trombone is a great way to educate.

It's time to rethink this approach.

The main question is why

Parents think that a music school will help develop hearing and voice, so you need to enroll your child in classes. Stop.

The first question: are you sure that it is necessary to develop something that does not exist?

An ear for music, a sense of rhythm - all this is acquired over time, but if a child did not have the makings, a great musician will not grow out of him. Mozart, perhaps, was taught to play almost from infancy. But since then, a lot of people have been mocked like that, and Mozart, as he was alone, remained.

Bring your child to an audition, let the teachers tell you if there is any point in studying. Just keep in mind that some teachers are ready to be filled with a nightingale and tell what a brilliant kid you have, if only you would give money for classes. So choose a counselor who is not financially interested in your child.

Second question: why does your child need hearing and voice?

Think about where the child will sing except for the reporting concert at the music school. Okay, let's say he will participate in the show and become the winner of Eurovision (although this is a dubious achievement). And where will he play the horn?

How many people graduated from music school, but did not even become karaoke stars. Their ceiling is to play "Dog Waltz" and three thieves' chords if they see an instrument.

And for the sake of this, it was necessary to spoil your posture and eyesight every day for several years? Seriously?

There are not so many musicians in demand, their life is not the easiest. Pulls the child into music - choose instruments that are at least somehow useful in musical groups (they say that with good drummers, tension).

4 unconvincing reasons why a child should be taken to a music school

Sometimes parents send their child to a music school without understanding why they do it. And they even find surprising explanations for this.

1. The child needs to develop musical taste

It is necessary, but for this it is not necessary to play something. Listening to music is enough for aesthetic education.

The music school is for those who cannot but play music. A calling, if you will. Taste has nothing to do with it.

2. Do you have some kind of instrument

Do not take your child to a music school just because you have a piano or accordion from the old days. Someone has had “Swallows” and “Seagulls” for years, from which they carefully dust off once a week. It is impossible to sell them, because no one needs them at all, these are not the works of great masters. But it’s a pity to throw it away: now Yulia and Petya will grow up, they will study. Yulia and Petya, of course, are not asked.

Don't bully children because you don't have the guts to throw away the rubbish.

3. One must be a good parent

A music school is still considered a sign of a “correct” all-round development.

This trend has already got enough: if you do not take your child to a music school, to dances, then to English and draw, then you are a bad parent, you are lazy.

The fact that a real parent himself can tell a lot, and will not push the child onto teachers, is carefully ignored. Just as diligent as the fact that a good parent listens to the wishes of the child, and not to mass hysteria about early development.

4. You dreamed of going to a music school

This is already banal, and everyone knows about it, so in short: if you dreamed about something, but it didn’t work out for you, don’t force your child to live your imaginary life. Otherwise, your child will also dream, but in vain: there will be no time to pursue a dream, music is waiting.

There is only one reason to bring a child to a music school - he himself wanted to.

What will happen if you insist on continuing the studies

It also happens like this: a child was interested in music, but then decided to quit his studies. No wonder: music schools bully children with classical music, which is of little interest to anyone (let's just not be snobbish). This is necessary to develop technique, but teachers do not adapt the main theme from the "Game of Thrones" for the fourth grade of a music school. Guitarists have at least tabs that the Internet is full of. The rest don't even have that.

I do not argue that sometimes you need to show firmness if a child is about to quit a music-room because of a whim, but at the same time he has a talent. Sometimes you need to figure out why classes are boring, and help move on: change teachers, change repertoire.

But when the problem is precisely in the unwillingness to play, then there is no need to push. You can force the child to study and put a tick in the column "provided comprehensive development." Only your child then to live with it.

If a child wants to study, he does not have to be forced. And if you have to drive him to the tool by force, the most unpleasant consequences await you.
