In just one day, it received millions of views.

"It's been very important to us to provide an environment where kids want to be here, they want to come and connect with other people," says principal Armen Torigian. "I feel like if kids' heads are in the right spot, they are feeling safe and they are having fun, then we can teach them anything that they need to learn."

Dereona Thepphakaysone is one of Mr. Lemay's students and the mastermind behind the original post.

"Due to the pandemic, things slowed down and so I feel like kids are still scared to come back to school and try to make new friends," she said. "Having things more fun makes them feel included, makes them excited to go to school."

Lemay credits his parents for his moves and willingness to get up and dance.

He says he hopes to continue shedding a positive light for the school and the students.

Jerkin’ |

Jerkin’ has been growing in popularity in the last few years.  Despite the growing interest, the origins of the dance are unclear.  It was approximately 2008 when the Jerk culture begun.  Since Jerkin comes out of the suburbs of Los Angeles we know the dances that preceded were Clowning and Krumping.  Members of Jerkin’ dance crews started out as clowns and krumpers but adapted their style and created their own take on footwork (a street dance style from Chicago).  Their adaptation of footwork became known as the “reject.”  Reject is one of the signature dance moves of Jerkin.

NEW BOYS

In 2009 the song “You’re a Jerk” came out by New Boyz.  This song became very popular and helped spread the word about the new dance movement, Jerkin’.

RANGER$

The jerkin’ dance crew Ranger$ is one of the hottest jerkin’ crews out of Los Angeles.   They are famous for their homemade videos posted to myspace and youtube that were filmed in casual places such as the Taco Bell parking lot.  They produce their own music and have signed to Nick Cannon’s label, Ncredible.  Their first album, Jerkin’ is a Habit: Volume I, has increased the popularity and production of Jerk music.  The group was originally made up of five members: Spotlight, Julian, Langston, Day Day, and Corey.  Corey left the group in 2011 leaving the Ranger$ with only 4 members.

ACTION FIGURE$

The dance crew known as Action Figure$ was created by Gary in 2009.  The group is from South Central Los Angeles and they started out by posting videos on youtube.  As their popularity increased the group started making music and planning parties in addition to dancing.  They now have quite a few sponsors including Vlado footware, TISA, and Rockin Skinnies.

Reject – a backwards version of the “running man” – a popular 80’s dance move

Pindrop – dropping down to the ground while balancing on one leg with the other leg tucked behind the opposite knee.

Jerkin music is typically produced in home studios using personal computers and software such as Reason and FL Studio.  The beats are basic as well as the process.

The style is skinny jeans, kool-aid colored hair, bleached flattops, fro hawks, chromatic tees, and thick soled skateboard shoes.

“Jerkin’ Can’t Die.”  There is a movement that is trying to keep Jerkin’ alive.  I believe with a combination of dance crew’s do-it-yourself videos, self promotion, making music, and entrepreneurship we will see Jerkin’ around for a few more years.

Just like with any dance, dancers will adapt to the new styles and trends and create their own flare.  I see any type of street dance as a platform for innovation and new ideas.  Even though each dance is rooted and influenced by dances that came before there will always be new styles that come about.

Jerkin’ was the newest dance that I chose to look into so I think it is hard to predict the future.   However, Jerkin’ has something that other street dances that came before did not have.  Jerkin has not just dancing but music producers and fashion.  Dance crews are getting sponsors and turning themselves into small businesses that sell fashion products and music through their dance.

Stretching

Stretching is a complex exercises that develop flexibility and stretching. Injury Rehabilitation Program also includes stretching. Regular stretching helps prevent injuries during sudden movements, increase flexibility and strength, restore muscles after loads, supply them with oxygen and nutrients, contributes to improving coordination and improving the quality of execution of elements.

There are two types of stretching: static and dynamic. Formerly static stretching most often practiced before sporting events or physical activity. This meant that the athlete stretched the body while it was at rest, and the muscles were just stretched. Although static stretching is still widely used both before and and after sports competition, dynamic stretching is more common because it is more effective in preparing muscles for using and stimulating the flow of oxygen to the muscles. Dynamic stretching is performed using soft, warm muscles with the help of swinging movements. This stretch should be done relatively slowly and without jerking to avoid injury.

Stretching is important part of any workout and should be an important part of any regular day. The benefits of Zumba are very different, for example, it improves the cardiovascular system, increases muscle strength, improves coordination. Online training

When you learn to dance, no nothing is better than a lesson that you attend in person with a teacher to make sure you are doing the movements correctly. However, watching the video dance lessons online can be helpful for upgrading skills or to learn the basics of a dance style that interests you. Exists many websites, online schools, marathons and video lessons, thanks to which one can learn different styles of dance with just a few clicks.

Whether or not you study new style, get ready for a performance or just want to work out when you're not opportunities to get into the studio, online dance learning platforms are an ever-evolving option for dancers of all genres and skill levels. And while they should never replace live workouts, they can be handy. and valuable addition. You can work out the classics, repeat the old ones dance sequences or find and learn a new combination, then to show in training. That is why for you our teachers and students senior group recorded a master class in hip-hop.

Quick dance learning hacks

If a person learned the movements and somehow repeated them to pre-prepared music, is this the ability to dance in the full sense of the word? And if the movements during the dance make the audience want to turn away? Can it be said that everyone who has ever done a wedding dance for themselves is now a dancer? The direction of thought, I suppose you understand.

Depicting a dance or making a couple of movements does not yet mean the ability to dance. But there are also less obvious criteria, which we will talk about in this article. And, of course, about how to speed up the learning process as much as possible in order to achieve the sweet moment of immersion in a cool dance.

When you stand on the shore before setting off, it seems to you that everyone who is a little better than you is already doing well. But the picture changes instantly very soon, when you start practicing, and it’s not so easy to understand whether you are moving further in your dance growth. Therefore, you should always start with criteria that you define for yourself as significant.

What criteria can be chosen in dancing? For example, the number of elements, movements, ideas, principles of interaction. In some dances, knowledge of basic, basic, additional and other figures may come in handy. Everywhere you will definitely need physical training. An important criterion for the ability to dance is improvisation and musicality. Do not forget that inner well-being can also be a criterion. Learning to enjoy dancing is often not an easy task.

Setting goals

The global goal of learning to dance can remain a kind of guideline for dance growth, but intermediate goals must be worked on. As with any project (and learning to dance is a full-fledged project), the goal must be measurable and achievable in time. For what period do we set ourselves the nearest goal? A month, six months, a year?

The earlier the stage of your dance jerk, the shorter the time interval should be. At the start, it is enough to plan the first result in a month. Then for six months, and then for a year, to outline something for yourself.

Why such a deadline and such a strategy? At the very beginning, you are not sufficiently oriented in how difficult the path that lies ahead, and how ready you are for it. The further you move, the greater will be the understanding of where you will meet real difficulties, and what will be easy to slip through.

The most effective way

When you have an idea of what the next goal will be, by what criteria you evaluate it and how you will understand that you have achieved it, then it's time to choose a promotion strategy in your dance growth. There are a number of basic activities that you need to be aware of and understand what is the effectiveness of each of them. Solving your specific task, you can always choose the most effective tool.

The four most basic ways of learning that are fundamentally different from each other: group lessons, individual lessons, independent work and practice.

Not all teachers in your environment have the skills to provide quality assistance in all types of classes. Therefore, you can always safely choose a complex not only from different types of classes, but also with different teachers. The main thing is to do everything meaningfully and understand how it fits into your overall strategy.

The further you move, the more you will understand where you will meet real difficulties and what will be easy to slip through.

Group and individual lessons.

These are the most popular activities for dance teachers. If the teacher is really good, then he knows what the usefulness of each of them is, and why one can never replace the other.

In group classes, ideally, you should concentrate on physical training as much as possible. Technique, load, interaction, endurance and other components of body work. The presence of other people in the group contributes to increased dedication and motivation. The discipline of the body contributes to the discipline of the spirit.

In contrast, in a private lesson, you need to devote more time to personal growth and the specific issues that you encounter while learning to dance. It is also appropriate to work out psychological preparation and volitional qualities. Dancing is inherently public, which can be quite stressful for both beginners and more advanced dancers, whether you're going to a battle or a milonga.

Independent work.

Do you want fast and high-quality results? Get used to the fact that you have to periodically train on your own. When you work through and try to understand the essence of this or that idea or principle of movement yourself, you absorb any material much better. This process may take a little longer than prompted by your teacher, but it's worth it.

The other extreme, where those who have tried it and realized that it is very effective on their own, is sometimes refusing to work with a coach. Here you can fall into a trap that you can’t even predict for yourself. You can get stuck on some simple issue for so long that it won't be worth the time, or the finances, or the nerves you'll spend on overcoming. Better to combine both.

Practice

The sooner you start applying the acquired skills, the better. There is no need to put off going to the first party, milonga or dance battle. Surely in your school or in your city there are special events where you can try your hand even at the most basic level.

Some schools provide practice for students. Here you can combine with independent work, and at the same time join the dance culture and expand the circle of dance acquaintances. In addition, it is really pleasant, and not only useful.

The higher your skills, the higher goals you can set for yourself. Participation in city or regional competitions, stage test, video recording to post on social networks. Lots of options. The main thing is not to make it an end in itself, but to understand that this is one of the methods of dance growth that you use.

The sooner you start applying the acquired skills, the better

Systematicity and planning can save you not only money, but also time, nerves and mental strength.
