Ken BrancaFirefighters worked for several hours to put out a massive fire at the former popular dance hall Midnight Rodeo on Wednesday, November 2. The dance hall has been closed since 2019 but officials found evidence of people living inside, according to San Antonio Fire Department Chief Charles Hood.
The fire started around 4:30 a.m. at Midnight Rodeo on the city's Northside at 12260 Nacogdoches Road, San Antonio, TX 78217, not far from Thousand Oaks. During a press briefing, Hood said firefighters arrived and found the 25,000-square-foot building covered with heavy smoke and with flames inside that quickly spread.
Hood said that the fire got out of control and became too dangerous for firefighters. He added that firefighters were working from the outside and waiting for the roof to burn off so they could access the inside from above with water. Hood said they will be there for several hours as of 7 a.m. Wednesday morning.
According to Hood, the building had electricity up until last week. He added that the bar had a full stock of alcohol, just as it did the day it shut down.

Casino (Spanish: Casino) - K2® Cloud Info
Casino (Spanish: Casino) is a social Cuban urban parlor dance of a popular and traditional nature
Contents
Basics
The Casino Dance is a style of Cuban Son dance.
The Dance of the Casino appeared around 1956 in the Casino Deportivo, (before the revolution it was an area where the wealthy European bourgeoisie lived). The Rueda de Son and Rueda de Cha-cha-cha dances were danced in this institution. Some couples separated from Rueda's general dance and danced separately. From the name Casino Deportivo, the dance took its name - Casino.
It is the circular dance of Rueda de Casino that determines the general choreography of the Casino dance.
Casino principles: a) ergonomic movements; b) the convenience and comfort of movements is based on the natural biomechanics of human movement; c) as a result of this: beauty and smoothness of movements.
The basic movement in the Casino is based on the mechanics of walking
The Casino is performed primarily by a couple, but during the dance the partners may separate into a free dance called the Floreo.
When dancing solo, partners use steps, hand and body movements, combined in a spontaneous and beautiful manner as an ornament to the dance, borrowings from other dances such as Son, Cha-cha-cha, Pachanga, Rumba are possible.
Such free dance insertions do not break the structure of the dance and do not exceed 2-3 musical eights, an example is the figure called Vacilala con engaño.
In Casino, after the optimization of movements that took place in the 80s of the last century, steps back disappeared. In modern Casino, the steps of the partner and the partner are directed forward, which has an important impact on the dynamics of the dance as a whole
.
Casino is a salon dance created in Cuba by its bourgeoisie, which combines elements of dances that preceded it in the process of evolution. It originated as a dance genre that has no author among urban popular dances.
The casino does not fit into any music genre or mix of music genres. This is a dance for entertainment in a collective and individual form and does not correspond to any religious myth, and is in no way connected with religious dances. Casino originated in the 50s of the last century in the salons of Havana as a form of entertainment for couples who dance hand in hand despite all the freedom of the dance.
Casino is often incorrectly referred to as Salsa, but there are about 15 years of difference between these cultural phenomena. Casino appeared at 1956, and Salsa as a commercial name for Cuban music originated in 1969, this fact clearly shows that these are different cultural phenomena. Casino is not Salsa, say the Cubans.
Origin of
From the book: "Casino is not Salsa"
Author: Alexander Pavlov. Book: "Casino is not Salsa", p.35
Casino in its historical line comes from the dances that were performed at the balls, namely the Contrdance and Dansa Habanera, these dances were attended by Bastonero - a man who called certain figures (and their was up to 900), which were performed by the dancers. This is exactly the picture we see in Rueda de Casino, where Cantor, who leads Rueda, also names the figures performed by all the participants in Rueda[4]. Thanks to this, a detailed nomenclature of figures has been developed in the salon dance of Casino, which is usually not found in street dances. Thus, the connection of Casino with the salon or ballroom dances of the 18th and 19th centuries, which were danced by the Cuban aristocracy, becomes obvious.
In the scheme of development and evolution of the Cuban style of Casino you can see the influence of the Waltz, it was from the Waltz that the Spanish closed position came to salon Cuban dances. Position Cerrada (Frontal).
The casino originated in the Leisure Casinos, which were located in the coastal area of Havana. We know that the revolution in Cuba took place in 1959, but Casino arose earlier, somewhere from the beginning of the 50s and was formed by the year 56 [5]. Before the revolution, real racism flourished in Cuba, there were zones for whites, for mulattoes and for blacks. The prestigious Casino Deportivo was located in an area for the wealthy "white" population, where blacks were not allowed to enter. Casino Deportivo had a club-card system. Cards from that period are still preserved, they can be seen in various historical studies. One of the first famous performers of Casino, as well as one of the founders of the Para Bailar competition, dancer Rosendo.
After the Cuban Revolution, television became a powerful engine for the development of casinos. Despite government bans, the population gained access to foreign music and video broadcasts of dance programs. Thus, other dance styles penetrate the island and enrich the casino dance. These areas are: rock'n'roll, hip-hop, disco, etc.
