Noisy drinkers with a plentiful libation were called cumbanchata (Spanish: cumbanchata). They were arranged in courtyards, in houses, colmado (small shops that sell alcohol) and right in the middle of the street - the main thing is that the company is good. On kumbanchats, the “music of bitterness” was born - música de amargue, which tells about hardships, difficulties of love and life's ups and downs.

Learning bachata is not difficult at all - just three to five lessons are enough to master bachata, the basic step of which is no different from the usual human movements, performed several hundred times a day. And, at the same time, to learn bachata, you need to have enough courage, because the dance is very intimate.

It is played to a melody in 2/4 and 4/4 time signatures. The movements characteristic of bachata are simple: four steps back and forth or from side to side. The last step is accentuated: the leg extended forward, placed on the heel or toe, or the leg bent at the knee in weight. Some say that because of the characteristic accents, bachata is similar to the mating games of birds. The partners' hands clasped in the lock make light circular movements. The distance between partners is minimal. Close contact excludes a large number of turns, however, in the dance there are many side passages and throwing the partner from side to side.

Like any other social dance, improvisation is inherent in bachata. The beauty and originality of performance depend on the desire of partners to trust each other. It's not about skill, chic choreography and perfection of movements, but about understanding and ability to feel a partner.
