Varvara Nainish leads a large number of creative projects, including being the founder and leader of the ALMOND project and Ural Waacking Community, as well as the creator of the nominal course for beginners #VOGUEwithBARBARA (Yekaterinburg).

Varvara told us how her relationship with dance developed and where the strength comes from to work in a 24/7 schedule.

Work for candy

My dancing history began when I was 3 years old, being with my parents at a musical event on Plotinka (Yekaterinburg), I ran out to the center and started dancing. It was an unknown set of moves, but I got a large number of viewers who started rewarding me with candy (laughs - ed. ). My parents decided that this was a sign, and they sent me to a dance group - first to the semi-professional, and then to the professional section. We studied various directions - classical, folk and modern dance (modern jazz, contemporary, pop). Together with our ensemble, they toured almost all of Europe, won prizes in various competitions.

It was probably the same sweets at Plotinka that determined my fate, because the public's response remains the main motivation for me so far. If I see support from the viewer, I feel an emotional exchange, then I understand that everything is fine and I'm doing my job.

Dance as text

What attracts me to dance is the incredible freedom of expression. Why are the audience looking at the dancing man? Because they understand that this person, who is now moving in front of them, reveals his personality, opens up new facets, experiences new emotions, creates himself through the image of someone else's image. Dance is a way, an opportunity to speak with the body, to speak with movement. I like to compare the dance with the word. If the text is made up of movements, the story is made up, then I consider the performance to be organic. And in order to achieve this organicity, it is necessary to develop comprehensively, it is necessary to engage in constant self-education. Dance is not only the right set of movements, it is a combination of many important little things and personality traits.

Style becomes you

There is an opinion that modern dance is purely academic, and street dancing is not serious. I have never supported such a point of view, on the contrary, I have always been impressed that people who do not have the opportunity to dance professionally do not give up and eventually create their own culture.

Street directions (popping, breaking, locking, hip hop dance, house dance kramp - ed. ) interesting and original, without exams, rules and laws. Here there is a wider exchange between the dancer and the spectator, and it happens that the line between them is completely erased.

I joined Street Dance about 4 years ago. I started with waking, and then vogue won my heart, because it is the epitome of style. At first, the style manifests itself only in a shell, an image, but then this external sensation becomes you, penetrates inside, you are filled with aesthetics, culture, control your body, present yourself correctly in everyday life.

Without borders

Due to my work, I travel a lot, visit large and small cities of Russia, visit Europe. I noticed a curious detail - people abroad are not afraid to choose, they are not afraid to be themselves, their dances often look more filled, freer, because they do not keep a load of thoughts in their heads, as is typical of our mentality. There are many high-quality venues in Europe, their events look brighter, but in Russia street culture is valued more because they don’t take it for granted. I am very pleased with the fact that the modern world is moving towards erasing boundaries, now there is a good opportunity for communication, you can watch educational videos from different parts of the world. The dance is moving towards unification, striving to become international, and this is very good, in my opinion.

5 sources of inspiration

I am often asked where I get the strength and inspiration to lead my creative projects, train people, put numbers - in a word, live in a 24/7 work schedule. I can talk about this for a long time, so I will name the 5 most important sources of inspiration. The first is people. These are always difficult people who have a history behind them, experienced experience. I like the depth of their personalities, I am filled with information and then embody it in a theatrical production, for example. The second source is literature. Fiction and science, classical and contemporary… Books are an endless source of ideas for me. The third is films. Any plot is a transformation of reality, it is the birth of individual meanings. This also includes high-quality music videos and interesting videos. The fourth source is all kinds of exhibitions, media projects, since contemporary art is very diverse and can always surprise. The fifth and perhaps the most powerful is travel. Getting into a new space, into a new culture, you break the boundaries of your thinking. You understand how limitless the world is, and you think why can't you yourself be just as limitless? Of course you can. Your ideas can be much wider, deeper and better. One has only to start developing oneself, and this process will be difficult to stop.

A new dance studio has appeared in Serov. Everyone here is ready to learn how to dance in the style of locking and popping. These styles originated back in the 70s on the streets of California, became relevant for Russia a few years ago and every year attract more and more interest from young dancers.

Kirill Larionov, teacher of locking and popping says: - I have been dancing for 8 years already, I went to various competitions, competitions and festivals. In Tagil I met Andrey "Sneik'a", who at that time had a dance studio called BNS. We decided to make an association of creative people: dancers, musicians, beatmakers, DJs from all cities of the region. I proposed the idea of ​​creating a BNS studio in Serov and it was supported. About two weeks ago, we officially took shape as an organization. There is not enough funding yet, but I think that everything is ahead. Two groups train in the studio: the younger (from 7 to 12 years old) and the older (from 13).

There are many street dancers in Serov, but they learn from videos on the Internet, and very often their enthusiasm disappears at the initial stage of memorizing the basics of dance. The so-called "base" of the dance is memorized very tediously and for a long time, but improvisation will be obtained only after memorizing the basics.

- Most young people don't understand what dance is - says Kirill - they see cool dancers and just try to copy them. The dance comes from the music, it has to be felt. And if a dancer has memorized the basic movements and at the same time really enjoys the music, then it will not be difficult for him to come up with something new and something of his own. Only by knowing the basic movements, one can look at high-level dancers and memorize their unusual dance techniques. Dance is not just movements memorized to music. In dance, you need to be able to express your emotions, move to the beat of the music and convey the mood of the song. The dance requires looseness, but at the same time concentration.

The organizers of the new studio said that now the classes are held in the premises of one of the city's entertainment centers. In the near future the new studio plans to participate in the monthly dance battle "Open jam" in Nizhny Tagil, where dancers will be able to gain experience and see dancers from all over the region.
