“Folk dance originated in ancient times. The samples of folk dances that have come down to us amaze with their brightness, imagery, unique national color and, in fact, are a reflection of the history of a particular people, the conditions of their life” [1].

Folk dance contributes to the formation, preservation and dissemination of ethno-cultural identity. Also, folk dance is like a way of conveying the life, character, culture of each people. Therefore, it is so important in our modern world to promote and popularize folk dances.

Every year there is a decline in the interest of the population in folk dance. Less and less parents send their children to folk groups, the children themselves, having seen enough television programs, choose modern choreography. Folk stage dance is becoming more complicated and improving in order to surprise the viewer, but among the great abundance of services in the field of leisure, viewers do not always choose concerts of folk groups, and there are not so many lovers and connoisseurs of this direction.

In the 1930s, a stage form of folk dance arose in the USSR, giving impetus to the development and distribution throughout the world, which contributed to the preservation and popularization of folk dance.

Igor Alexandrovich Moiseev, a Soviet and Russian choreographer, choreographer, ballet dancer, artistic director of the State Academic Folk Dance Ensemble, is considered the founder of folk stage dance [2].

“We express life in dance,” said I. A. Moiseev. “We want the viewer to see and feel the soul of the people, their habits, customs and aspirations behind each performance. We are looking for that aesthetics and that plasticity that corresponds to modernity” [3].

In addition to professional ensembles, amateur groups were also created. So in 1981 the folk dance ensemble "Iskorki" was formed, in 1990 it was awarded the title of "exemplary". The founder of the team is Kolesnikova Lyudmila Ivanovna. The current artistic director of the group is Podzolkina Elena Veniaminovna.

In 2021, the team turned 40 years old. During this time, a huge number of children have passed through this ensemble. There are graduates who have devoted their lives to choreography, some realize themselves as a performer, some began to teach dance. In any case, the Iskorki ensemble influenced the formation of the personality of a large number of people.

The team has been based since the date of foundation in the City Palace of Culture and Arts named after the Red Guard. The life of the team was bright, varied and progressive. Now, we can say that the activity of the team has declined. They do not provide buses for children to outdoor concerts, the performances themselves have become much smaller, if there are concerts, they are held on the basis of the institution and now the audience must buy tickets for concerts, although accessibility for all segments of the population used to prevail. The contingent is parents who came to look at their children for a fee. Thus, instead of recruiting participants in groups and spectators, everything is done so that the folk dance goes into oblivion.

Even after watching programs at competitions-festivals, there are many numbers of a modern direction and a small part of folk stage dance.

Ways to popularize folk dance:

Propaganda on television: showing folk dance festivals and competitions, especially children's choreographic groups on central TV channels. Creation of television show programs, such as "Dancing on TNT", where teams from different regions of our country, both amateur teams and professional ensembles of our country, will compete with each other.
The availability of teaching the direction as a folk dance through the organization of free additional classes at school, free circles in cultural institutions, including all age categories.
Introduction of folk dance into the program of celebrating state national holidays
Introduce the compulsory subject "History of Folk Culture" into the educational school curriculum.
With the help of folk groups, organize master classes for those who want to dance, open days where you can watch open lessons, and attract not only professional groups, but also people who are interested in this at folk festivals.

Thus, in order to preserve the culture of our country, it is necessary to pay attention to the development of folk dance in every city, because folk dance is one of the oldest forms of folk art, inextricably linked with human activity. It is of great importance for every people and serves as a means of transmission, preservation and dissemination of the traditions and customs of each people.

According to the plot of the film, Basil, an Englishman of Greek origin, comes to Greece, his goal is to receive the inheritance that was left to him in Crete. He meets Zorba, a cheerful and offhand local, who convinces Basil to go to the island together. At the end of the film, Zorba shows Basil how to dance the Greek dance. The movements were predetermined by chance: on the eve of filming the scene, the actor badly injured his leg - so that he could not make any sudden movements, like jumping and swinging his legs. As for the name "Sirtaki" - this is a diminutive form of "sirtos", and this is the name of the ancient dance rhythm in Crete.
