We just got another boatload of snow, so on Sunday morning, when we were snowed in and couldn’t even get out of our house to make it to mass, we got our dance on.

Because why not?

Turns out that Cora and Owen’s awesome teachers for the past few years had often put on short little YouTube dances for them when they need to get the wiggles out.

We found most of Cora and Owen’s faves, and we found some more.

Not only does moving mid-day help increase concentration and focus (for everyone–not just kids!), but learning and practicing these dances will mean that our kids will be rockstars on the dance floor when it comes time for weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, and Quinceaneras in the next few years.

Win, win, win.

Here’s the skinny. . .

Here are our faves:

The Sid Shuffle:

Shake Your Sillies Out:

The Skeleton Dance (and more):

Dino Stomp:

Dancercise for Kids:

HOW fun are these? Hope your crew enjoys them as much as we did.

Or subscribe to the whole Dance Party Playlist for all of them:

"tat man is as smooth as his suit... GET IN THERE!!!!"
-snip-
"tat" is propbably a typo for "that".

The saying "Get in there" is used in the title of this video. I believe that in the context of this video, the African American Vernacular English meaning of "get in there" (and "getting in there") is "to do something exceptionally well"; "to arrive at the pinnacle of performance".

"@FrauMase  Uncle Unc!!!!! The Ultimate Uncle."
-snip-
"Unc" ("unk") is a shortened form of the word "uncle", a referent for a brother of one's father or mother and to an aunt's husband. In addition, in African American Vernacular English "unc" ("unk) is also a midly affectionate informal abbreviation for the relationship term "uncle". "An "Unc" is an African American male relative or male non-relative who is middle age or older. "Unks" and who is known to dress, act, and talk certain ways. For example, an unc is known to wear certain types of clothes, particularly clothes that might have been "fly" ("hip") some time ago, but are out of fashion now, or are inappropriate when they ae worn by older men. Uncs also are known to act & talk in certain characteristics ways that many younger people consider to be both humorous and irritating.

An "ultimate uncle" is a man who epitomizes the looks and actions of  an unc.

An oldhead is another referent for "unc".

Notice other references to "unc" or "uncle" that are found in several other selected comments in this compilation.

we strengthen the physical shape Dap step style robot dance

If you still decide to learn dubstep, then first understand the essence of this dance. If you start searching the Internet for information on dubstep, you will immediately be given information about the style of music. Indeed, it is a genre of music that has recently emerged in south London. Rhythmic clarity and brightness of sound is the specificity of this music. To achieve this, musicians create a huge amount of low-frequency bass. The stunning whirlpool and unpredictability of the sounds of this music can carry the dancer away. That is, dubstep is a style of dancing to this music. nine0003

In this article we will help you in theoretical aspects, but you can work out the practice in the video lessons presented at the end of the article.

Dubstep foundation

The technical side of the dance is taken from the electric boogie, but new movements have also appeared. In turn, electric boogie also consists of elements of other dances: waving, popping, liquidation and animation, but everything is transformed into an electronic-mechanical illusion.

That is, you can figure out how to dance dubstep by understanding, first, all these styles. The idea as a whole is in electronic, mechanical elements that resemble a dancing robot. However, do not forget that this is a dance. The sharpness and clarity of movements should contain both plasticity and flexibility. Like the effect of a bending pencil, when you hold it by the center with two fingers and swing it. nine0003

Dubstep elements

  • Do not forget that the electronic nature of the dance should not be devoid of emotionality. In dubstep, the body seems to be controlled by an artificial mind.
  • Skill, surprise and speed of execution provide spectacular illusion. But it takes practice and a lot of practice.
  • Different illusions and people are created from all kinds of transformations (as if there are no bones, as if the body bends where it is unrealistic). These illusions and transformations are based on smooth, continuous, but clear, transitions from one element to another, similar to the flow of a liquid. nine0018
  • The dancer's body is not just mechanical work. Sharp movements of the body, legs, arms, various turns, bends, waves - that's what you need to be able to do.
  • It can be assumed that each person feels the character and mood in his own way. This is the richness of dubstep, it provides an opportunity to express themselves, show initiative and creative imagination. And the rhythm and pace is common to all. The music is the same, but everyone can contribute.
  • The dance consists of short and long elements, sudden stops, slowdowns and accelerations - everything depends on the music. The purpose of the dance is to beat the track, play it with the body, merge into the track, convey character, tempo, rhythm, mood to the audience. You need to work on the speed of movements, learn how to abruptly switch from slow to fast, but so that it looks beautiful. nine0018
  • To learn dubstep, you need to work on the clarity and sharpness of movements, but also on fluidity, grace and plasticity at the same time.

Video tutorials

You must have seen these incredible YouTube videos that look like a visual hoax. You can learn this very quickly! Okay, maybe not as fast, but with practice and dedication, you'll be able to perform dimestops on par with the best dancers.

Steps

Skills nine0039

  1. Isolation master. If you've ever taken a dance class, you're probably familiar with isolation. This is when you move some part of your body and nothing else - hence you isolate it. It may sound too simple, but it is very difficult to move any part of the body without affecting, at least minimally, other parts. To master the dubstep style of the robot, this skill is necessary.

    • Stand in front of a mirror. Start at the head and neck and work your way down your body, trying to rotate each part of your body independently of the rest of your body. Rotate each body part counterclockwise and clockwise - shoulders, chest, abdominals, hips, to the ankles. Work on the smaller parts of the body - fingers, wrists, forearms - once you get the hang of it. Nothing else should move. nine0016
    • When you can move your body parts in a circle, try moving up and down. Most of the time, when doing isolation, you will be moving in different planes. For example, when moving your arm up and down, you don't use your wrist or elbow. Hold them, but the movement of the hand should be guided by the shoulder, in fact, only it should work.
  2. Learn how to "dad" with your abdominal muscles. There are many helpful tutorial videos on YouTube that will show you the whole process. Basically, you need to move your abs out and in at a fast pace or to the beat of the music. And for dubstep, you have to do it pretty quickly. nine0003

    • Imagine that your body is a clam shell that opens and closes. Your upper body and lower half should meet in the middle. Practice this move until you're good at it, as it's the foundation of many basic dubstep moves.
  3. Balance. You will be doing many movements in slow motion. This means that most of the time your weight will not be evenly distributed on both legs. It's because of the smooth movements in slow-mo and the swell in glitch that dubstep has no hesitation. nine0003

    • There will be times when you need to lean on your toes or on the sides of your feet. Start practicing now! Yoga will really help you.
  4. Listen to the rhythm. Unlike something classical like a waltz (simple 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3), the rhythm of dubstep is very fast, often you will need to move in 1/8 note and the like. If you can't hear the rhythm, you can't dance dubstep.

    • Pick a song you would like to dance to and start tapping the rhythm. Find the song you want to dance to and start drumming it. When you can hit all the notes (namely short notes other than 1, 2, 3, 4) by drumming with your hands, you can start doing it with your body too. nine0018

    movements

    1. Vibration. In many dubstep compositions, there are moments where the music seems to vibrate - it changes, from time signature 1, 2, 3, 4 to time signature 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 is clear enough. When you hear this, know that this is the vibration of time.

      • Bend your knees in a slightly squatting position. Then straighten up so that it looks like your body is moving up and down slightly. Basically it looks like you're just a little twitchy. Do it quickly and skillfully. You want to minimize movement, but increase your speed so it looks like your body is vibrating, not like you're fooling around. nine0018
      • Make it even smoother with your hands and brushes. If your limbs move too much, you will look like a carefree Tyrannosaurus rex running from a meteor. Or at least as an epileptic.
    2. Stop. Dubstep music is sometimes very fast and intermittent, sometimes slow and smooth. When you make a transition, for a fraction of a second, make dead center . You will be doing your robot dance, bam, and in your slow motion. The stop should be barely noticeable - in fact, only you should know that you are doing it - but it will emphasize the transition. nine0003

      • This usually always happens on the downbeat. There will be very clearly marked points where your fast movements must stop and your slow ones will take over. Which brings us to...
    3. Be persuasive by moving in slow motion. Everyone can move slowly. Most of us. But in order to perform a slow movement and make it really look like a movement in slow motion, you must carefully monitor every part of your body. Your eyes should blink more slowly, your feet should touch the ground, gradually changing the angle, you should even swallow more slowly. nine0003

      • It's easy to get your spine down, but getting your feet moving is probably the hardest part. As soon as the tip of your toe touches the ground, there is an immediate urge to put all your weight on that foot. Ultimately, it's all a matter of balance, where you will improve over time.
    4. Move. An ordinary dubstep melody sounds, frankly, like a glitch. It's like the sound of a broken record or a scratched CD when a certain section is repeated over and over again. When this happens, small twitches from ordinary, everyday movements turn into quite interesting movements from the outside. nine0003

      • Start with your head. Pull it back and forth to the music. There should be only 4 or so head movements - it won't last long.
      • Work in different areas. While bending your knees, tilt your body a little lower with each punch, being careful not to move your arms or neck/head. You move not only left and right, but also vertically.
      • Isolate hands. For each "snatch" strike, move your arm/arms independently of your body. The rest of the body should not move. Check if you are moving on each such glitch! nine0018
    5. Glide. You've seen this step - it looks almost ethereal. You will pivot on your toe and shift your entire body weight onto it. Remember what we said about balance? That is why you should do it this way. The knee above your swing leg should be bent.

      • Then slide the other foot to the other side. This foot should never leave the ground. It's literally a slide. If you can't slip, change your shoes. Always, always, always have one foot on the toe and the other fully on the ground. nine0018
      • Turn. Your foot that is fully on the ground should continue the mirror-turned, heal-up stance, and the other leg should come down fully onto the foot, turning around. With this foot slide towards your body. Repeat. That's all!
      • Remember: the knee is directed towards the forward heel. One heel always comes forward, so the knee does the same.
    6. Make a wave. I bet you didn't think it would become popular again, did you? There are two main types of waves: hand wave and body wave. Both types are heavy in terms of insulation. Let's start with a hand wave: nine0003

      • For arm wave, hold one hand. Throw your hand down, then bend your elbow up. If it is appropriate to mention in this case, do not forget about insulation. Then shrug one shoulder. Then, do not pay attention to the nearest shoulder, while simultaneously accompanying this with an expansion of the chest. Repeat the same with the other arm, starting at the shoulder.
      • To make a wave with your body, imagine that a rail has been passed through your chest. To start the wave, your shoulders must be tilted back and your chest puffed out. The farther the chest, the better. Then pull the imaginary rail down, move your chest back and your stomach forward. What's next? All the same - pull this imaginary rail down a little more, pulling in the stomach and pushing the hips forward. nine0016
      • To complete the wave, pop in a sitting position. Without moving the center (isolation!) pop your knees (on tiptoe), bend them, and shift the center of gravity. Once you have mastered the downward movement of the wave, try doing it in reverse.
    • Practice rotating your shoulders and head in small pushing motions to add visual complexity to your dance.
    • Wear a sports bra if you are a girl; you don't want parts of your body to be unable to stay in place. nine0018
    • Don't be afraid to incorporate other people's moves into your own style. Just remember that you need to respect the one from whom you took this movement and help the community with new ideas.

The basis of dance

Dubstep is a dance that combines several styles borrowed mainly from electric boogie dance, it is a real "Klondike" of various genre trends. This style combines animation, popping, liquidity, waving, etc. All these elements form a single whole. Therefore, in order to learn the dance technique, you will have to work hard and study all the styles mentioned. nine0003

Dubstep is based on electronic ones that imitate a dancing robot.

What are the elements of dubstep (dance)?

Rhythm, sharpness and speed of movement depends on the particular track. There is no universal solution - you need to listen and feel the music. It may be difficult at first, but over time it will surely work out. To feel confident on the dance floor, you need to work out the basic elements in front of a mirror. It is important to achieve a clear and sharp, but at the same time graceful and plastic performance. When the body remembers certain movements, you can randomly use them depending on the sound of the music. nine0003

Dubstep (dance) consists of sudden accelerations and decelerations. In some cases, even stopping is appropriate. Movements can be short and sharp, or they can be long. You can suddenly switch from slow movements to fast ones, and vice versa. The main thing is that it looks beautiful and organic.

The purpose of the dance is to convey the mood, tempo and rhythm of the track, to feel and imagine its character. You need to beat the music in an original way, and with the help of your body convey the mood to the viewer. You must completely merge with the unpredictable flurry of sounds. nine0003

All dancers feel the character and mood of the same track differently, therefore, dubstep is a dance that provides room for imagination, an opportunity for self-expression and initiative. The rhythm will be the same for everyone, so it will unite the dancing people.

There are no templates in this direction. There are only general principles. Everyone can use what suits him. The dance is developing, so you can not only copy other people's ideas, but also put forward your own. nine0003

The abundance of technique variations is impressive. You can perform various turns, bends, waves, sharp movements of the whole body or just arms or legs. During the dance, the viewer has various illusions. With sufficiently clear, but smooth, continuous movements, there is a feeling as if the body of the dancer is bending in places where this is impossible.

The more professional you are, the more effective your dance will be. Over time, you will learn how to make quick and unexpected transitions and master this unpredictable and bewitching dance. nine0003

How to learn to dance dup step. How to dance dubstep: getting fit

10/05/2013

Dubstep is the direction of music, after which, in fact, the dance was named. This direction originated in 2000 in the southern districts of London. Clarity and brightness of sound are the main features characteristic of this style of music. This effect can be achieved by using bass at low frequencies. It is at their expense that an unthinkable style of movements in the dance is created, which creates the impression that a person no longer controls his body. nine0003

How do you become one of those dubstep dancers? You just need to feel this music, how to pass it through yourself, understand its mood and become a part of it. Then you need to understand the basics of this dance, feel the style and features of the music. Videos of successful dancers will help a beginner with this. You just need to watch how they do certain movements, how they combine them into a single dance.

Dubstep is a mix of various styles, genres and directions. Its basis is electric boogie - dancing. This style successfully and appropriately combines animation, waving, liquidation, dpopping and many other areas. But at the same time, all these elements are successfully mixed, forming one single direction. nine0003

To become a successful dubstep dancer, you need to master all the styles that make it up. But still, the basis of dubstep is mechanical movements that emulate the dance of a robot. What are the main parts of dubstep anyway? It all depends on the specific song or track - the rhythm, the speed of the movements, the sharpness of the movements. To dance in this direction, you just need to feel the music, let it pass through you. Since there are no specific rules and canons in this style. Of course, not everyone will succeed the first time, although in fact it is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. To overcome the constraint on the dance floor, you just need to work out the popular elements in front of the mirror, practice. It must be remembered that sharpness and clarity must be combined with ease and plasticity of movements. The beginner will feel much more confident when the body is doing all these movements "on the machine" and can use what has been learned depending on the track. nine0003

Dubstep affects from accelerations, slowdowns, and sometimes stops, respectively, the movements can also be slow and smooth, or very fast and at the same time sharp. The main task is to convey the mood of the musical composition, its rhythm. To do this, you need to learn to merge with the music, to let it become part of you.

That is, dubstep is a style of dancing to this music. nine0003

What do people regret most at the end of life

What happens if you look into the eyes of a person for a long time

you can work out the practice in the video lessons presented at the end of the article.

The basis of dubstep

The technical side of the dance is taken from the electric boogie, but new movements have also appeared. In turn, electric boogie also consists of elements of other dances: waving, popping, liquidation and animation, but everything is transformed into an electronic-mechanical illusion. nine0003

Dubstep elements

  • Do not forget that the electronic nature of the dance should not be devoid of emotionality. In dubstep, the body seems to be controlled by an artificial mind. nine0018
  • Mastery, surprise, and speed of execution ensure the spectacle of the illusion.
  • The dancer's body is not just mechanical work. Sharp movements of the body, legs, arms, various turns, bends, waves - that's what you need to be able to do. nine0018
  • It can be assumed that each person feels his character and mood in his own way.

Video lessons

  1. Isolation master. If you've ever taken a dance class, you're probably familiar with isolation. This is when you move some part of your body and nothing else - hence you isolate it. It may sound too simple, but it is very difficult to move any part of the body without affecting, at least minimally, other parts. To master the dubstep style of the robot, this skill is necessary. nine0003

      • When you can rotate your body parts in a circle, try moving up and down. Most of the time, when doing isolation, you will be moving in different planes. For example, when moving your arm up and down, you don't use your wrist or elbow. Hold them, but the movement of the hand should be guided by the shoulder, in fact, only it should work. nine0018
  2. Learn how to "dad" with your abdominal muscles. There are many helpful tutorial videos on YouTube that will show you the whole process. Basically, you need to move your abs out and in at a fast pace or to the beat of the music. And for dubstep, you have to do it pretty quickly.

    • Imagine that your body is a clam shell that opens and closes. Your upper body and lower half should meet in the middle. Practice this move until you're good at it, as it's the foundation of many basic dubstep moves. nine0018
  3. Balance. You will be doing many movements in slow motion. This means that most of the time your weight will not be evenly distributed on both legs. It's because of the smooth movements in slow-mo and the swell in glitch that dubstep has no hesitation.

    • There will be times when you need to lean on your toes or on the sides of your feet. Start practicing now! Yoga will really help you.
  4. nine0017
